The film is directed by Antoine Fuqua and written by Richard Wenk, based on the television series created by Michael Sloan and Richard Lindheim.

The Equalizer 2 also stars Pedro Pascal, Ashton Sanders, with Bill Pullman and Melissa Leo.

The Equalizer 2 is distributed in the Philippines by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International.

‘Mission: Impossible’ director returns for ‘Fallout’ starring Tom Cruise

At Tom Cruise’s request, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation director Christopher McQuarrie became the first filmmaker ever to return to direct a second Mission: Impossible film. And does so with the upcoming Mission: Impossible – Fallout (in Philippine cinemas July 25).

“One of the signature elements of the franchise is that there has been a different director for every movie,” McQuarrie explains. “When Tom asked me to come back and direct this one I said I would do it on the condition that I could maintain the spirit of that tradition by completely changing the visual language from the previous film. I want people who watch Rogue Nation and Fallout to feel like two different people directed them.”

That was fine with Cruise, who has had a deep admiration for McQuarrie’s ability as a filmmaker since the pair first collaborated on the 2012 action thriller Jack Reacher. “I love working with McQ,” says Cruise. “He is enormously talented. He wanted to change the visual style so it would be as though someone else had directed it, and he succeeded. But it still has his bold storytelling sensibility. I love the toughness of the movie and the characters. We pulled out all the stops. I can’t wait for audiences to see it.”

McQuarrie believes one of the reasons the franchise remains so popular is Cruise’s insatiable desire to make each film more thrilling and intense than its predecessor. “It never stands still,” says the director. “But most importantly it never forgets the audience. Tom is first and foremost an entertainer. Everything he’s doing in the movies is to take you places you’ve never been, to show you things you’ve never seen, and to put you in the experience right there with him.”

For Mission: Impossible – Fallout, McQuarrie was eager to explore a darker and more human side of the film’s central character. “Ethan has always been a bit of a mystery,” he observes. “This time I wanted to be more inside his head and feel his connection with other people. The title refers not only to nuclear fallout but also to the fallout of all of Ethan’s good intentions. He has walked into a situation beyond his control, and he has to go through it even though he knows he’s being manipulated.”

Mission: Impossible – Fallout is distributed in the Philippines by United International Pictures through Columbia Pictures.

About Mission: Impossible – Fallout

The best intentions often come back to haunt you. Mission: Impossible – Fallout finds Ethan Hunt (Cruise) and his IMF team (Baldwin, Pegg, Rhames) along with some familiar allies (Ferguson, Michelle Monaghan) in a race against time after a mission gone wrong. Henry Cavill, Angela Bassett, and Vanessa Kirby also join the dynamic cast with filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie returning to the helm.

Evangeline Lilly is ready for action as Hope van Dyne in Marvel Studios’ ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’

Evangeline Lilly returns to her role of brilliant quantum physicist Hope van Dyne. While she’s as focused and determined as ever, a very different Hope van Dyne emerges in Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man and The Wasp.”

Now a fugitive with her father, Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), the brilliant scientist has used her time in hiding to master her new role as The Wasp, but she isn’t quite ready to team up with Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) for their most important mission ever. But reuniting her family depends on it, so she is forced to seek his help.

Lilly was over the moon knowing that the next installment of the “Ant-Man” story line would introduce The Wasp. “I was excited to play Hope again for so many reasons,” comments Lilly. “In ‘Ant-Man’ she went through this enormous emotional arc. So it was exciting to have the chance to go back to this character and play her in a new space, a space where she is more at ease in her own skin and more at ease in her relationship with her father.”

“But I have to admit,” she adds with a laugh, “my primary motivation to come back was to put on that suit and play The Wasp. Hope so desperately wanted to follow in the footsteps of her incredible superhero parents, so she’s finally doing that and doing it very well.”

The actress was also enthusiastic to return to the “Ant-Man” family to collaborate with Peyton Reed again. For Lilly, there is no better champion to helm the next chapter in the “Ant-Man” saga. “There’s really nobody better to navigate through this second journey with than Peyton Reed,” says Lilly. “The scope of this film is so much bigger than the first film. It feels a little more epic, which is exciting, but also what’s wonderful is we never lose that sweet family-driven story that’s at the heart of it all. That’s what I love the most about the Ant-Man brand, and it’s something you can expect again from ‘Ant-Man and The Wasp.’”

As Lilly prepared for her return to the role, she knew the physical preparation for The Wasp action sequences would be vital to building the character. More importantly, she understood that the new backstory for Hope, the Super Hero, would wholly inform that relationship between Hope and Scott, which is the bedrock to the “Ant-Man and The Wasp” story line.

Remarks Lilly, “The relationship between Hope and Scott in ‘Ant-Man’ was really straightforward, and as an actress I always knew very clearly where things stood. Hope couldn’t stand him for the majority of the film and then eventually realized he’s okay. ‘Ant-Man and The Wasp’ is a bit complicated, and a lot more challenging to know how exactly to hit the tone of their relationship. Hope just lives to be The Wasp but definitely harbors feelings of anger, hurt and resentment when Scott made the choice to go to Berlin without her. That’s the hardest thing for her to swallow, but she’s got this mission and she’s really focused on her mother, so the stakes are so high.”

The fun-filled “Ant-Man and The Wasp,” with its signature out-of-this-world action and laugh-out-loud comedy, flies into Philippine cinemas July 4, 2018.

About Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man and The Wasp”

As he struggles to rebalance his home life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he’s confronted by Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) and Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside the Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from the past.
