Teen actress Christine Lim extends help amid lockdown through own savings, donations

AsterisK talent Christine Lim, 18, is among the celebrities who’ve been showing empathy towards their fellow Filipinos, especially the frontliners, through initiating their own donation drives following the enhanced community quarantine on March 17, 2020.

Tine, as how she’s fondly called by family and friends, put her digital platform into good use by launching “Lingap-BAYANi,” a “fundraising activity which gives utmost recognition and support to our BAYANi-healthworkers and frontlines” in Capas, Tarlac, where her father Reynaldo Catacutan was elected town mayor.

Like what the word “Lingap” stands for, Christine wants to extend protective care to her hometown through continuously paying back “our frontliners in giving their utmost effort in maintaining peace and order and of most especially, in protecting and helping us surpass this crisis.”

Inspired by her father Mayor Reynaldo who’s very dynamic in handling the novel coronavirus or COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdown, Christine, with her own savings amounting to PHP 200,000 and donations from family and friends, was able to pull off the first wave of her gift-giving last April 13.

Aside from food packs, her relief initiative covers PPEs including isolation gowns, N95 and surgical masks, alcohol, shoe covers, Hazmat suits, safety goggles, and surgical gloves.

A day after, the actress-performer appealed for donations on her Instagram feed as she launches new donation drive called “Lingap Batang Capaseños,” saying, “a lot of people expressed their need for milk products for their children. With that, I considered this as another opportunity from our Almighty God to help our batang Capaseños in Capas, Tarlac.”

Urging everyone to do their part, she said, “Let us be proactive members of our society.”

GIVING BACK. Considering herself very blessed with her family and career ever since, Christine isn’t new to doing donation drives in their town. Her compassion to serve is one trait that she gratefully owes and shares with her father.

Seeing her father’s proactive leadership in Capas inspired her in so many ways.

“I really admire my Papa, especially in dedicating his life to serve the Capaseños. I learned a lot from him, from having compassion, having intelligent discernment,

sacrificing for the betterment of everyone, up to being fair, and many more. But on top of the list, what I love about my Papa’s leadership, is he puts his heart for the service towards his fellowmen. Kapag nilagyan mo kasi ng puso ang serbisyo, hindi ka nalang makikita ng mga Capaseño bilang isang mayor. They will definitely perceive you as their father, a father who is after the betterment of its fellowmen.”

In fact, instead of having a grand celebration on her 15th birthday, she opted to spend the day feeding the aeta families of Sitio Tarukan in her hometown.

Since then, spearheading charity events became a yearly affair, which of course is well-supported by her father and the rest of the family.

“My principle in life is that, service to humanity is the best work of life. Always remember, if we have ways to help, do not think twice or thrice, just wholeheartedly extend our arms and help other people. No matter what age, what socio-economic status, and what situation we are dealing with, always help the needy. It is where we could feel genuine happiness.”

With her wits and undeniable heart for the poor, it wouldn’t come as a surprise if she’ll pursue a career in politics soon.

MY EXTRAORDINARY. The Tarlac beauty will soon be starring in a TV series titled “My Extraordinary” alongside Enzo Santiago, Darwin Yu, Kamille Filoteo, Karissa Toliongco, EJ Coronel, and Sam Cafranca.

Christine will be playing the role of Abby. Hinting on her character, she said, “Because of Abby’s past, her family became over protective to the point that she didn’t enjoy her childhood life.”

Produced by AsterisK Digital Entertainment, “My Extraordinary” will be shown on TV5.

‘Money Heist Part 4’ review: A must-watch big bang

Money Heist Part 4 successfully brings back the hype with lots of surprising twists and turns that fans deserve to savor.

Two weeks before the much-awaited premiere of the fourth season of the Spanish crime-drama, Money Heist (La Casa de Papel), Netflix gave us access to watch its first few episodes.

Now that all eight episodes were released, here’s our quick take on the return of the globally popular series.

Money Heist 4 returned with an explosive fans that made it trend on Twitter and Facebook, with fans around the world expecting a much bigger season the series has to offer. True enough, its popularity has gone viral and brought it as one of the most popular titles on Netflix.

Back in last year’s Part 3 (released July 19, 2019), Money Heist showed the team back together to outperform themselves via an even bigger heist. All of it, however, is a ruse to try and rescue one of their members (Rio) who has been captured by the authorities. (Fast forward to Episode 8 and we get a glimpse that the stakes have been upped dramatically.)

It’s an all-out war between the authorities and our gang with a newly pregnant woman (Sierra) at the helm of the investigation—trying to bring them all in. The Professor believes Raquel to be dead and calls for DEFCON 2 which results in the use of RPG’s against a tank rolling to storm the Bank of Spain where the gang is held up. Nairobi’s fate, on another hand, looks bleak—given her bullet wound and the Professor’s plan is seemingly up in the air with the new police negotiator firmly in control.

We’re expecting to hopefully see the inevitable escape—or as it’s looking like at this point, the demise of the crew. The new season is what fans are waiting for. Things have taken an unexpected turn for The Professor, Lisbon, and the thieves. Usually when everything goes wrong, The Professor comes up with a backup plan—but this time he is out of options. His love for Lisbon (another one of his rules that he broke) causes him to be led astray, and now all bets are off for Season 4.

Episode 1: Game Over

“Anger and grief heighten tensions between the group. The Professor, while in mourning, attempts to make a daring and dangerous escape.”

The series opens from where it left us. It is one hell of a mess for the whole team. Everyone is at stake for there is already a war inside and outside the Bank of Spain. The group must be kept in control of their emotions and anger to make things work inside. Outside, the Professor is running out of options but he must keep on fighting to get the team out (with the melted gold on the side). The excitement for this new season unravels everything that we want to see on a pilot episode.

Episode 2: Berlin’s Wedding

“Palermo shocks the group with his actions. Sierra pressures her subject to take a deal. The Professor remembers his brother’s wedding.”

It brings us back to the happier days the team could remember: A flashback to a wonderful wedding and a celebration that give us a glimpse of what it was like before the next heist. Everything is about to explode while the team continues to struggle on saving one of their own. There is just enough tension in this episode; too much heat going on around the characters.

Episode 3: Anatomy Lesson

“The Professor’s mole attempts to pass along his message inside the tent. Denver’s jealousy toward Mónica and Rio’s friendship heightens.”

A crazy twist happens when the bank’s security chief, Gandía, has escaped and eventually makes his way to sabotage the heist and targets the thieves. Although things get intense in this episode, it still ends with much love that one should not miss.

Episode 4: Pasodoble

“In the past, Berlin predicts that Gandia will cause problems for the operation. Sierra’s interrogation of Lisboa leads to a personal revelation.”

Tension rises and more secrets are about to unfold. The episode gets us closer and closer to what we never saw in the trailers. What more is there for Gandia as a key element in their heist? We’re bound to learn that.

Episode 5: 5 Minutes Earlier

“Denver turns to an undercover source for help. Nairobi attempts to motivate her team as the danger around them intensifies.”

Money Heist made sure it utilizes the style of non-linear storytelling by presenting a higher level of excitement. Sure enough, this is an action-packed episode with bullets flying everywhere and a great suprise to make it all the more thrilling. It has a specific turn that would keep anyone from stopping.

Without spoiling anything more than what the trailers and episode descriptions have given out, La Casa De Papel Part 4 is a bomb, to put it simply: with excellent quality, full of believable action stunts, and immersive acting.

This is very different from the past installments as this one tells us that the team is no longer an invincible rock. Their struggles hereon are so real that they have a tendency to break—anytime, without warning, however care they pose.

But then again, it is all about the surprises. While some scenes in the first five episodes can already be drawn from the trailers, there is still a lot of craziness and genius that could transform anyone into a fan. It’s more than worth the long wait!

After seeing the final episode of Season 4, we could all expect for a grander continuation, without a doubt. Would the Professor be as successful as in the first heist? What would be the fate of our beloved characters? As Palermo would say, “This is more than just a heist.”

The new season of Money Heist (La Casa de Papel) is now streaming on Netflix.
