German Moreno’s legacy lives on via Supershow app

Kuya Germs’ son, Federico Moreno, continues the Master Showman’s legacy by creating a new mobile app called Supershow that aims to discover and help new talents.

The idea came about in early 2018 when Federico was asked by one of his friends to look for a wedding singer. After making some calls, he was not able to find one based from the availability, date and budget they needed. He asked himself, “Why is it so complicated and hard to find one?” That was his “light bulb moment.”

That was how it all started. He began researching through several sectors of the society. Name it! From parents having children’s party needs for clowns and magicians, to castings agents searching for TV commercial models, to wedding planners looking for hosts and performers, to bar owners in need of bands and lounge singers…

The Supershow App emerged as a convenient, reliable, seamless, and easy-to-use means to discover talents.

“This app is one way of continuing my father’s legacy in helping the industry by helping talents get bookings and discovering new ones.”  shared Federico.

Anchored by the said dream, he built a goal-oriented team with his very own mentor, Mr. Jose “Jomag” Magsaysay Jr., Chairman Emeritus of Potato Corner.

“At the Supershow App, we cannot wait to connect gifted individuals for the right job/event at the right time and make everyone happy. explained Jomag.

Later on, Federico was able to get the assistance of Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, one of Kuya Germs’ proteges and who is like a brother to him. “Yorme” gladly accepted and collaborated with the team. It is also his way of honoring the late Kuya Germs, whose surname he has been using for his screen name. It is his way of support for undiscovered talents as he reminisces how he went his way up in the entertainment industry.

In the midst of the pandemic, the Supershow App’s mission includes rebuilding and setting new standards in the hard-hit industry Kuya Germs had gifted his whole life to.

By adapting to the new normal, this also paves the way to aid displaced talents who want to get bookings and projects while we are under community quarantine.

The search is on for the app’s pool of new talents who can be a part of the team in time for Kuya Germs’ birth anniversary this October 4. Aspiring talents can now submit video materials (30-60 seconds) by visiting http://www.supershow.app.

To learn more about this momentous project, everyone is invited to visit and like the social media accounts of the Supershow App.

Log on to http://www.supershow.app to get discovered and get booked.

You can start booking talents for events starting November 25.

First Pinoy animated Netflix Film ‘Hayop Ka!’ premieres October 29

Netflix released today the first look for Hayop Ka! The Nimfa Dimaano Story.  The adult-animation film from the Philippines starring Angelica Panganiban, Sam Milby, and Robin Padilla is set to premiere on October 29, 2020 at 12:01 am.

Directed by Avid Liongoren, written by Manny Angeles and Paulle Olivenza, Hayop Ka! The Nimfa Dimaano Story is the first animated Netflix Film from the Philippines. Available across Asia in Taglish, and English as You Animal!’, this adult animation comedy is a refreshing look at societal expectations, personal aspirations and the classic love triangle.

About Hayop Ka! The Nimfa Dimaano Story:

Nimfa Dimaano (Angelica Panganiban), the pretty pussycat is a perfume sales kitty at a department store. Her boyfriend, Roger (Robin Padilla), the macho mongrel is a janitor. Nimfa meets Iñigo Villanueva (Sam Milby) the bourgeoisie business dog and their chemistry ignites. Will Nimfa and Roger’s love for DVDs and cheap street food keep them together or will Iñigo’s high society charms tear them apart?

Additional voice cast include Empoy Marquez, Piolo Pascual, Arci Muñoz, Eugene Domingo, Yeng Constantino, Moira dela Torre and Bb Joyce Bernal.

Animated and produced by Rocketsheep Studio and Spring Films – Erickson Raymundo, Piolo Pascual, Bb Joyce Bernal, E Del Mundo, Avid Liongoren and Manny Angeles.

“Hayop ako, hayop ka, hayop tayong lahat!  Pinaghirapan po namin ang pelikulang ito at kakaibang hayop ang mapapanood niyo dito! Panuurin ang Hayop Ka!

My team and I took over 3-years of serious hard work to create this light and comical film. While our main goal is to elicit a few laughs, our advocacy is to encourage local animation production. In the global animation industry, the Philippines is a go-to nation for outsourcing animation services. We are home to thousands of talented animators but sadly, we are not known for ideating and producing our own work. There have been less than 10 animated feature films in the entire 100-year history of Philippine cinema, and we want to continue adding to that, while also hoping that little by little, someday Filipino animators can be known as not just service providers, but creators as well. We hope you enjoy Hayop Ka! on Netflix,”  said Avid Liongoren.

“I find it interesting to see animals dealing with adult human conflict in funny natural situations, the characters are real in their predicament and emotions, and each character has a unique Filipino trait that we can share to the audience,” said Piolo Pascual, Executive Producer.

ETCerye primetime block premieres ‘Everywhere I Go’

ETC, the Philippines’ number one free-to-air female entertainment network, shakes up local programming as it launches its newest primetime block called “ETCerye” — the channel’s first foray into the Tagalized foreign drama series. For its initial offering, “ETCerye” presents the Turkish dizi “Everywhere I Go.”

Since early 2000s, dizi—as the sweeping epic dramas from Turkey are called—have been
“invading” the world. They cover genres such as comedy and romance, to thriller and
action. Audiences worldwide have been mesmerized by the engaging storylines, relatable
themes of family and love, scenic locations (mostly shot in picturesque Istanbul), original
soundtrack, and stunningly gorgeous cast. A recent article in UK’s The Guardian reported
that about 150 Turkish dizi have been sold to 100 countries.

One of these is “Everywhere I Go” (Turkish title “Her Yerde Sen”), a story about a serious
businessman, Demir, and an ambitious female architect, Selin, who are surprised to know
that they each own half of the same house. Neither Selin nor Demir want to sell their share and move out. To make the situation more challenging, not only must they put up with each other at home, they also need to get along at the office as Demir turns out to be the new boss at the firm where Selin is employed.

“The Turkish creative artists have a flair to how they tell their stories,” said Mr. Wilson
Tieng, CEO of Solar Entertainment that owns the ETC Channel. “I found myself glued to
every episode of ‘Everywhere I Go.’ I quickly understood why Turkey is the world’s fastest
growing TV series exporter next to the US, and why dizi have a big following in the US,
Bulkan countries, the Middle East, China, Korea and Latin America.”

“Everywhere I Go,” in fact, is both a smash hit and an award-winning program in its home
country. It was chosen as Golden Lens Awards’ Best Romantic TV Comedy, and the show’s lead actress Aybüke Pusat and lead actor Furkan Andiç were named as Golden Butterfly’ Best TV Couple.

Adding to this dizi’s appeal are the charming co-stars who play the supporting characters. From the company owner’s son who has an eye on Selin, and the lady client who is harboring feelings for Demir, to the funny and lovable co-workers, and the warring sisters who sell the house to Selin and Demir — they are just some who play important roles to increase the kilig and fun factor of “Everywhere I Go.”

“Everywhere I Go” will have a three-episode premiere on ETC on September 19, Saturday,
at 8 pm; regular airing (Monday to Friday at 8 pm) will begin on September 21. ETC is seen on SkyCable Ch.16, Cignal Ch. 21, CableLink Ch. 34, DTT Ch. 21 in Metro Manila, and in over 200 cable operators nationwide.
