The latest collaboration between actor Denzel Washington and director Antoine Fuqua, the vigilante action film ‘Equalizer 3,’ beckons and entices into what could arguably be the most enjoyable bloody mess to watch on the big screen.
Since giving up his life as a government assassin, Robert McCall (Denzel Washington) has struggled to reconcile the horrific things he’s done in the past and finds a strange solace in serving justice on behalf of the oppressed. Finding himself surprisingly at home in Southern Italy, he discovers his new friends are under the control of local crime bosses. As events turn deadly, McCall knows what he must do: become his friends’ protector by taking on the mafia.
The Equalizer 3’s delightfully chaotic and gory spectacles are considerably darker and more brutal than those of its two predecessors. Denzel Washington’s performance is, ultimately, the backbone that prevents the film from becoming overwhelming. Once again, he conjures up a captivating lead character with his seamless transition from a charming old man to a steely and calculating persona.

It goes without saying that ‘The Equalizer 3’ is the most entertaining entry in the film series. The opening scene is just spectacular, they showed a glimpse of what you’re going to expect from the film – gore and bloody action sequences. It’s brutal from left to right. A pure ghastly gruesome grim action thriller and well served vengeance. The more times you see it, the more you notice everything. Perfect location, Italy was a great choice for as it’s just beautiful with some haunting visuals of torture that adds fun to whole film. Denzel Washington and Dakota Fanning did a phenomenal job. Denzel is still believable, even at his age, of being capable of brutalizing the murderous cowards he battles. While Dakota Fanning is a gem as a young CIA agent. She blossomed from a wonderful child talent to a great young actor. It’s a joy to see them together again after Man On Fire.
Despite the story’s breakneck pace, Antoine Fuqua’s directing work is nothing short of exceptional. The storyline is straightforward and effectively delivers precisely what one would anticipate from an Equalizer film. The intense, savage, and thrilling fight sequences are a genuine treat – they feel believable and authentic.
‘The Equalizer 3’ strikes a perfect balance and lives up to the lofty standards set by the first two films in the series. All things considered, it’s a solid action film and a fitting conclusion to the trilogy.
