Pauline Mendoza lands first lead role via ‘Babawiin Ko ang Lahat’

Apt for the powerful title of her newest show, Pauline Mendoza lands her first lead role in a television series through GMA’s ‘Babawiin Ko ang Lahat,’ which premieres February 22 on the network’s Afternoon Prime block.

This new drama series poses the question: “When all that you care for in life is taken away from you, how far would you go to fight for what is rightfully yours?”

Largely noticed for her well-loved (and -hated) stint in the top-rated Telebabad series ‘Kambal, Karibal’ in 2017, Pauline Mendoza has long since shown more than what she is capable of when it comes to drama.

‘Babawiin Ko ang Lahat’ is headlined by this ensemble: Carmina Villarroel as Dulce Espejo-Tanaka, Victor’s materialistic and conniving former lover who vows to take everything from the latter for the sake of her children; Tanya Garcia-Lapid as Christine Salvador, devoted wife of Victor and doting mother of Iris; Neil Ryan Sese as Inspector Jun, a police captain who is ready to take down whoever defames the Salvador family; Kristoffer Martin as Joel Espejo, the black sheep among the two children of Dulce and Victor but is also just a victim of his father’s absence in his life; Dave Bornea as Randall Madrigal, Trina’s ex-boyfriend and Iris’ childhood friend and admirer; Liezel Lopez as Trina Espejo, Dulce and Victor’s greedy daughter who envies her half-sister Iris to the extent of making the former’s life miserable; and John Estrada as Victor Salvador, CEO of Allegre-Salvador Farm and the loving yet protective patriarch of the Salvador family.

It also features Therese Malvar as Lala, Iris’ loyal and bubbly confidante; Tanya Gomez as Menchie, Victor’s kind and supportive elder sister who has always been against Dulce; Gio Alvarez as Greg Madrigal, Randall’s father and Victor’s comrade; Manolo Pedrosa as Justin Roxas, Randall’s cousin who secretly fancies Iris; and with the special participation of Jett Pangan as Akira Tanaka, a Japanese-Filipino Yakuza boss and Dulce’s ex-husband; Jenine Desiderio as Tiya Elena Allegre, Christine’s strict and protective auntie; and Charee Pineda as Minnie, Dulce’s enabler and crony.

Here is the synopsis of ‘Babawiin Ko ang Lahat’:

Born in comfort, Iris (Pauline) was raised like a princess, beloved by her parents – Victor (John) and Christine (Tanya) – who would do anything and everything to protect her, including from their own past. When Victor’s old flame Dulce (Carmina), together with her two children Joel (Kristoffer) and Trina (Liezel), comes barging in their lives unannounced and begins to take everything away that Iris holds dear to her heart – the young man she is interested in, the wealth that is rightfully hers, and the father she loves – she soon realizes that she must shed her innocence and learn how to fight against her own half-blood relations to regain the most important thing in her life: her family.

Created by the GMA Entertainment Group, this original series is headed by SVP for Entertainment Group Lilybeth G. Rasonable, VP for Drama Redgie A. Magno, AVP for Drama Cheryl Ching-Sy, Senior Program Manager Anthony R. Pastorpide, and Executive Producer Nieva S. Magpayo.

The story is made possible by Creative Director Aloy Adlawan; Creative Head Dode Cruz; Creative Consultant Des Severino; Concept Proponent RJ Nuevas; Headwriter Glaiza Ramirez; writers Anna Aleta Nadela and Christine Novicio; and brainstormers Jason John LimPatrick Ilagan, and Meryl Bunyi.

Directed by Jules Katanyag, ‘Babawiin Ko Ang Lahat’ will have its world premiere on February 22, and will air on weekday afternoons on GMA Network.

For viewers overseas, this new drama series can be viewed via GMA Pinoy TV, the network’s flagship international channel.

GMA Public Affairs presents new rom-com ‘Owe My Life,’ premiering Feb 15

Kapuso Premier Drama actress Lovi Poe and sought-after Kapuso leading man Benjamin Alves are paired anew in the latest romantic-comedy TV series from GMA Public Affairs. In “Owe My Love,” money cannot buy love but what if romance blooms out of a business deal?

Expect an unexpected love story that will come across two strangers from colliding worlds in the latest offering from the team behind the highly-successful primetime hits, “Naku, Boss Ko!,” “Inday Will Always Love You,” “TODA One I Love,” and “One of the Baes.”

Lovi Poe plays Pacencia “Sensen” Guipit while Benjamin Alves plays Dr. Miguel “Migs” Alcancia. Their characters meet in the crazy world of debt, near-death situations, and much love to family.

According to their character descriptions: “Sensen (Lovi) is a nursing school undergrad, who quits her studies and takes on several jobs to keep her family’s finances afloat. Selfless almost to a fault, she is driven by her positive attitude that with hard work, she will someday reap her much-deserved rewards. Always on the go because opportunities are not to be wasted, she has little time for herself much less for romance.”

On the other hand: “Doc Migs is a heart surgeon at Centimos Medical Hospital. He is also a financial adviser on a online show called “Alcancia ng Bayan.” Migs grew up in a broken family and was raised mostly by his beloved Lolo Badong (Leo Martinez) who taught him the value of hard work and saving money. But now that Lolo Badong suffers from middle-stage dementia, Migs is desperate to delay the effects of the disease and of forever losing his only family.

Fate and a series of unfortunate events – from paying off her father’s gambling losses to shouldering her youngest sibling’s hospital bills – lead Sensen to become financially indebted to Migs. So they forge a deal where Sensen pays off her loan by working as Lolo Badong’s caregiver because for some inexplicable reason, Sensen’s presence delays the symptoms of Lolo Badong’s dementia. It’s not as simple as it seems however because Lolo Badong is convinced that Sensen and Migs are married. To keep his grandfather happy, Migs asks Sensen to keep up the pretense while she works off her debt.”

Prepare to witness how real romance could unfold amidst their pretend marriage! Will their money issues keep them together or will debt tear them apart?

Featured in the series is an incredible roster of supporting cast: Comedy Concert Queen Ai-Ai Delas Alas is Vida Morales, Sensen’s boss-cum-second mother; WinWyn Marquez is Trixie Gibs, the clingy ex-girlfriend of Migs; and Ms. Jackie Lou Blanco is Divina, Migs’ greedy stepmother.

Veteran comedians are more than ready to share their antics with Nova Villa as Mema Eps, Ruby Rodriguez as Nanay Coring, Pekto Nacua as Tatay Oryo, Buboy Villar as Gwaps, and Kiray Celis as Evs.

About The Umbrella Academy S2

Five warned his family (so, so many times) that using his powers to escape from Vanya’s 2019 apocalypse was risky. Well, he was right – the time jump scatters the siblings in time in and around Dallas, Texas. Over a three year period. Starting in 1960. Some, having been stuck in the past for years, have built lives and moved on, certain they’re the only ones who survived. Five is the last to land, smack dab in the middle of a nuclear doomsday, which – spoiler alert! – turns out is a result of the group’s disruption of the timeline (déjà vu, anyone?). Now the Umbrella Academy must find a way to reunite, figure out what caused doomsday, put a stop to it, and return to the present timeline to stop that other apocalypse. All while being hunted by a trio of ruthless Swedish assassins. But seriously, no pressure or anything.
