Lola Erlinda Menor, 75, beams with joy after participating in the recent #SeniorDigizen learning session led by Globe, where she gained insights into digital technology.
“At my age, I am very thankful! I am 75 years old now, still active and lively. I have expanded my knowledge on digital information, which is a wonderful thing for us. It is a significant help for me and not just for myself. I can share this with my fellow seniors who may not be aware. I can provide them with the knowledge we acquired from this program,” Menor expressed.
Menor is among the 200 senior citizens from Metro Manila who took part in the inaugural “Teach Me How to Digi” Learning Session by Globe on January 25, 2024, aiming to assist the elderly in the country in keeping pace with the digitalization journey.

During this learning session, seniors were taught how to use smartphones, GMail, GCash, and KonsultaMD, tools that can lighten their daily lives.
“The information shared was excellent and clear. It’s impressive. And for seniors, this program is significant because, you know, we have senior moments. Now, we can simplify things that were once challenging. Due to digitalization, bill payments, communication with doctors, and connecting with friends are now faster, right? It’s a huge thing for us now, thanks to the Senior Digizen campaign by Globe,” Menor added.
According to Enrique dela Paz, 64, a retired seaman from Pasig City, digital skills are crucial to make tasks easier.
“It’s great that we are invited to learn even at this age. Technology is within our reach. It’s joyful!” he exclaimed.
For Eulenia Jerez, 71, learning digital skills brings happiness, especially since seniors often struggle to keep up with modern technology.
“Of course, the digital world is challenging for us because we didn’t start there. It’s also difficult to ask others for help. But we want to enjoy it. You know that feeling when they know, and I don’t. I am making an effort to learn because I know it’s necessary for the times,” Jerez shared.
She emphasized that digital skills would help her fulfill her role as a community volunteer: “That’s where I find happiness, as long as I can serve many other people. I have nothing to hide in my heart in return, as long as I can serve them. That’s what’s important to me.”
The #SeniorDigizen campaign is part of Globe’s push for digital inclusion, aiming to help seniors overcome fear, apprehension, and misconceptions about digital technology and protect them from online risks.
“In this day and age, digital skills can no longer be ignored. For Globe, everyone needs to be on board with digitalization because there are many benefits to using digital technology, especially for seniors,” said Yoly Crisanto, Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer of the Globe Group.
