Marian: ‘After five years, nagbabalik akong soap [My Guardian Alien], di ko alam yung anggulo ko’

During a recent media conference highlighting the Primetime Queen’s return to weeknight television, Marian Rivera openly shared her thoughts on her comeback to GMA Prime with the upcoming series “My Guardian Alien.”

This marks her pairing with Kapuso leading man Gabby Concepcion after facing setbacks in previous projects like “My First Yaya,” where she was eventually replaced by Sanya Lopez, known then for her role as Sang’gre Danaya in the 2016 iteration of “Encantadia.”

Marian’s adjustments after 5 years

Expressing her enthusiasm for the project, Marian disclosed that after a five-year hiatus from soap operas, she faced uncertainties regarding her role.

With a touch of humor, she quipped, “Adjustment? No’ng una talaga na sumabak ako… Nahirapan talaga ‘ko. Kasi, after 5 years, nagbabalik akong soap, hindi ko alam yung anggulo ko, hindi ko alam yung lighting. So nangapa talaga ako…”

Reflecting on the prolonged anticipation for this endeavor, Rivera shared her belief that the wait was completely justified. She remarked, “Sabi ko nga e, parang worth it lahat ang paghihintay nang limang taon para gawin ‘to.”

The emsemble cast

All Hail the Queen! Starting April 1, the Kapuso Primetime Queen, Marian Rivera, is set to grace the screens once again on GMA Prime, much to the delight of her fans.

Under the direction of the acclaimed Zig Dulay, “My Guardian Alien” promises to unveil the long-awaited partnership and undeniable chemistry between Rivera, portraying Katherine, and the esteemed leading man, Gabby, in the role of Carlos. Together, alongside Raphael Landicho as Doy, the lead actors delve into the heartwarming and enchanting narrative of the Soriano family.

Completing the ensemble cast are Gabby Eigenmann as Dr. Ceph, Carlos’ jovial confidant; Marissa Delgado as Nova, Katherine’s imposing mother-in-law; Kiray Celis as Marites, the garrulous yet dependable aide of the Sorianos; Josh Ford as Aries, an easygoing youth employed at the Soriano family farm; Caitlyn Stave as Halley, the astute and self-reliant sister of Venus; and Christian Antolin as Sputnik, a reformed gang member now a faithful caretaker of the Soriano farm.

Her request to her home network

Humorously addressing her character’s unique quirks, Rivera shared that she requested a role that wouldn’t be too mentally taxing.

Rivera also expressed her eagerness for this project, emphasizing her excitement about creating a production her children could enjoy and of which she could be proud.

She viewed the opportunity as not just a career milestone but also as a chance to forge new bonds within the show’s cast and crew.

The Kapuso Primetime Queen is poised to once again demonstrate her unmatched acting prowess in this blend of family drama and sci-fi fantasy. “My Guardian Alien” revolves around the idyllic life of Katherine and her loving family, which is shattered when she tragically loses her life in a shooting incident, leaving Carlos and Doy grief-stricken.
