Supernatural comedy film ‘Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire’ emerged as the #1 movie at the U.S. box office during its opening weekend, propelling the entire Ghostbusters franchise beyond the $1 billion threshold.
Featuring an ensemble cast including Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, and McKenna Grace, the film debuted with a formidable $45.2 million in the U.S. Market-wise, it adopted a staggered release approach internationally, accumulating a global gross of $61.6 million to date. The launch in the Philippines is scheduled for April 10.
In ‘Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire’, the Spengler family reunites at the iconic New York City firehouse, the birthplace of their ghost-busting legacy. Collaborating with the original Ghostbusters, they unveil a clandestine research laboratory aimed at advancing their spectral containment efforts. However, the unearthing of an ancient artifact triggers a malevolent force, necessitating a coalition of old and new Ghostbusters to defend their turf and thwart a looming Ice Age apocalypse.
In its critique, The Hollywood Reporter lauded ‘Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire’ for its fidelity to the franchise’s established formula, skillfully intertwining humor and suspense to deliver a gratifying albeit lightweight cinematic experience.
Deadline echoes the sentiment, particularly commending the performances of the cast. They highlight the chemistry between Rudd and Coon, describing it as warm and subtly effervescent, while lauding Wolfhard and Grace for infusing authenticity into their roles, a departure from the conventional portrayal of blockbuster teenagers.
Don’t miss ‘Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire’ when it opens in Philippine theaters this April 10, as distributed by Columbia Pictures, the local arm of Sony Pictures Releasing International. #Ghostbusters
