Ai-Ai Delas Alas readies for ‘The Clash 6,’ wants to guest on ‘Abot-Kamay na Pangarap’

Comedy Concert Queen Ai-Ai Delas Alas is gearing up for an exciting year ahead as she focuses on a new business and her showbiz career as a Kapuso.

In a recent virtual interview with select outlets, including CinemaBravo, Ai-Ai shared her enthusiasm about returning to the Philippines this June.

Her trip will be filled with significant personal and professional milestones, including her youngest child’s graduation and her return as a judge on the award-winning original singing competition, ‘The Clash.’

Moreover, she revealed her aspiration to guest on the top-rated and longest-running GMA Afternoon Prime series ‘Abot-Kamay na Pangarap,’ which stars Jillian Ward and Carmina Villarroel.

“Uuwi ako kasi sa June 10 ga-graduate yung anak kong bunso, si Andrei. And then, after niyan, pupunta ako sa Japan, dahil may show ako sa June 15 and 16… And then sa August, because of ‘The Clash,’” she narrated.

(“I will go home because on June 10, my youngest child, Andrei, will graduate. And then, after that, I will go to Japan because I have a show on June 15 and 16… And then in August, because of ‘The Clash.’”)

Her enthusiasm for the upcoming events is palpable. She shared her preparations, which include thinking about her outfits and gimmicks.

“I’m so excited! Ngayon pa lang, nag-aabang na ako ng mga isusuot ko. Nag-iisip ako ng mga gimik ko. At saka, nag-iisip ako [kung] ano gagawin ko sa mga damit ko.”

(“I’m so excited! Even now, I’m already waiting for the clothes I’ll wear. I’m thinking about my gimmicks. And also, I’m thinking about what I’ll do with my clothes.”)

When asked if it was okay for her that ‘The Clash’ is her only regular show in the Philippines for now, Ai-Ai explained the arrangement she has with her home network, GMA.

“Yes, kasi part yon ng usapan namin ng GMA kasi yun yung mga panahon na na-haggard ako na pauwi-uwi ako pag may soap opera ako. Kasi nga, pag may soap ako, mga 3 months akong nag-i-stay diyan…”

(“Yes, because it was part of my agreement with GMA during those times I was stressed from going back and forth when I had a soap opera. Because if I have a soap, I stay there for about 3 months…”)

She elaborated on the challenges of balancing her commitments in the Philippines and the United States.

“Kinukuwestiyon kasi ako dito sa Amerika. Pag Green Card-holder ka kasi, medyo mahigpit sila. So, kailangan umuuwi ka every month. And sabi rin nung lawyer ko, para kasi yung accumulation ng [length] of stay ko dito, kaya hindi ako maging [US] citizen kasi kulang. So kailangan ko pa siyang dagdagan nang dagdagan…”

(“Here in America, they question me. As a Green Card holder, they are quite strict. So, I need to go back every month. And my lawyer also said it’s because my accumulated length of stay here is why I can’t become a US citizen yet; it’s still lacking. So, I need to add more and more…”)

Despite these challenges, Ai-Ai remains optimistic about her upcoming projects.

“Yung mga guesting ko, inaayos na nila habang nandiyan ako sa Philippines habang nagti-tape ako ng ‘The Clash.’ And I hope makapag-guest ako sa ganito, sa ganyan.”

(“My guestings are being arranged while I’m in the Philippines taping for ‘The Clash.’ And I hope I can guest on this, on that.”)

She is particularly eager to guest on ‘Abot-Kamay na Pangarap,’ a show she greatly admires.

“Sana makapag-guest ako sa ‘Abot-Kamay [na Pangarap]’… Success naman talaga yon. Isa yon sa [mga] ina-eye namin na sana makapag-guest ako.”

(“I hope I can guest on ‘Abot-Kamay na Pangarap’… It’s really a success. That’s one of the shows we are eyeing for me to guest on.”)

In addition to her entertainment commitments, Ai-Ai has recently ventured into a new business partnership with cosmetic nurse and aesthetician Marlou Colina of MC Aesthetics.

Marlou shared how she convince Ai-Ai on opening a new chapter of her life through a new business: “Naghahanap siya ng business dito sa US. Tinuloy naman niya yung ‘Martina’s [Breads & Pastries]’. Tapos, si Sophia, yung anak niya, interested din talagang magkaroon ng business. So, in-encourage ko siya. Sabi ko, ‘Miss A, kung gusto n’yong i-try, mag-business ka.’ Kasi wala tayong distributor dito sa San Francisco, because we’ve only been doing this for almost four years pa lang.

(“She was looking for a business here in the US. She continued ‘Martina’s [Breads & Pastries]’. Then, her daughter Sophia was also really interested in having a business. So, I encouraged her. I said, ‘Miss A, if you want to try, go into business.’ Because we don’t have a distributor here in San Francisco, since we’ve only been doing this for almost four years.)

“In-encourage ko si Ms. Ai-Ai, magtayo siya ng sarili niyang company, which is nandoon yung entertainment, nandoon din yung skin care, nandoon din yung baking niya. Sabi ko, ‘Miss A, you’re very much qualified naman to be your own CEO of your company, and at the same time, gawin natin si Sophia na COO ng company n’yo kasi gusto niya talagang mag-business. That’s the whole story kung paano nagkaroon si Ms. Ai-Ai ng business sa skin care sa Amerika, in partnership with Marlou Colina Aesthetics or MC Aesthetics.”

(“I encouraged Ms. Ai-Ai to start her own company, which includes entertainment, skincare, and her baking. I said, ‘Miss A, you’re very much qualified to be your own CEO, and at the same time, let’s make Sophia the COO of your company because she really wants to go into business. That’s the whole story of how Ms. Ai-Ai started her skincare business in America, in partnership with Marlou Colina Aesthetics or MC Aesthetics.”)

As Ai-Ai Delas Alas continues to balance her personal life, showbiz career, and business ventures, fans can look forward to her upcoming guestings on GMA and the much-anticipated sixth season of ‘The Clash,’ set to air in late 2024.
