‘Bad Boys: Ride or Die’ review: High-octane action, hilarity in fourth installment

Four years after ‘Bad Boys For Life,’ when their late police captain gets linked to drug cartels, wisecracking Miami cops Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett return and embark on a dangerous mission to clear his name.

‘Bad Boys: Ride or Die’ still delivers a highly entertaining buddy cop action film. It offers exactly what fans of the franchise crave in a fourth installment of ‘Bad Boys’ The action sequences, directed by Adil and Bilall, are brimming with inventive camerawork. They’re intense, brutal, and thoroughly entertaining, featuring the excellent duo, great music, action sequences, and humor that hits the mark.

Ultimately, the fast-cut action sequences are the highlight of the film, superbly choreographed. It’s a big change from the first two ‘Bad Boys’ films.

Signs of aging are evident in the first half-hour, but this movie isn’t in the ‘too old for this s**t’ category yet. Now, almost 30 years later, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence continue to bring their A-game, while the supporting cast, especially Reggie (Dennis Greene) and Mike’s drug-dealer son Armando (Jacob Scipio), step it up, and everything blows up exceptionally well. As for Eric Dane being the big villain, he is extremely threatening, adding thrill to the film. There are a lot of artist cameos to watch out for, so don’t blink.

Surprisingly, this stands out as one of the biggest action movies of the year. ‘Bad Boys: Ride or Die’ has amped up the energy and is funnier than the previous one. It delivers a nonstop comedy-action spectacle that fans of the action genre will love and enjoy. Seeing it in IMAX is a blast and takes you to another level of pure enjoyment.
