4th Impact on BINI, bashers, breakthrough first US Tour

For the very first time, Filipino girl group 4th Impact is having a US tour!

During a one-on-one interview with CinemaBravo over PHLV Radio, the talented sisters of 4th Impact—Almira, Irene, Mylene, and Celina—opened up about their upcoming concert, while reflecting on their admiration for BINI, the Philippines’ leading girl group. Amidst this breakthrough, they sincerely addressed the challenges of dealing with bashers and social media negativity, emphasizing the importance of family support and resilience.

As they prepare to mesmerize audiences in Las Vegas on June 21, the sisters talked about their excitement for their newest project, showcasing their dedication to bringing Filipino talent to the global arena.

Future collab with BINI?

They fondly reminisced about their close bond with BINI members Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Jhoanna, and Sheena, highlighting the group’s humility.

Irene expressed her admiration to the eight-piece act formed by ABS-CBN Star Hunt Academy.

“Way back nung nasa Philippines kami sa PPOPCON [Pinoy Pop Convention and Concert], I think BINI is one of those na naging ka-close namin, sina Mikha, Jhoanna, and Maloi… They’re so sweet talaga. Noon pa man, magaganda na sila and matatangkad, but very humble.”

(“Back when we were in the Philippines at PPOPCON, I think BINI is one of those we became close with, Mikha, Jhoanna, and Maloi… They’re really sweet. Even then, they were beautiful and tall, but very humble.”)

They mentioned that they are all happy that BINI is reaping their hardwork. “We’re just so happy as mga ate nila na talagang they are… harvesting ba ang tawag? Yan!”

Almira, the eldest among 4th Impact members, said, “Deserve naman nila yon. And if we were given a chance to collab with them, it’s gonna be a dream come true for us, kasi, di ba, yung makasama mo ang ‘nation’s girl group.’ It’s been a dream para sa amin na makasama sila one day.”

(“They deserve it. And if we were given a chance to collaborate with them, it would be a dream come true for us, because being with the ‘nation’s girl group’ is a dream for us.”)

Enteng the Dragon, their concert promoter, hinted at future collaborations: “Actually there’s a tour coming with BINI and we’re already sending our feeler if we can be given one opportunity to collab with them… Nothing is confirmed…”

On handling bashers and social media negativity

Almira spoke about their resilience: “Alam n’yo, talagang dumaan kami sa stage where tinanong namin sa sarili namin, ‘Are we still doing it correct?’ Kasi, ito nga yung nangyayari, kapwa namin yung talagang nagba-bash sa amin. But we just pray for it. And s-in-urrender na lang namin kay Lord. Like we said, we cannot please everyone. Basta ang ginagawa lang namin from the start is just to work hard para maangat ang pamilya namin sa kahirapan at mabigyan namin ng pride ang Philippines… Talagang hindi na namin siya ma-stop. Hindi namin alam saan nanggagaling ang hate nila.”

(“You know, we really went through a stage where we asked ourselves, ‘Are we still doing it right?’ Because, this is what’s happening, our fellow Filipinos are the ones bashing us. But we just pray for it. And we surrendered it to the Lord. Like we said, we cannot please everyone. From the start, we just worked hard to lift our family out of poverty and give pride to the Philippines… We really can’t stop it. We don’t know where their hate is coming from.”)

Mylene has this coping mechanism: “Kumbaga, hindi na makontrol… Ako, personally, hindi na lang ako nagbabasa ng mga comment, hindi na ako nagso-social media masyado. Hahaha!”

(“It’s uncontrollable… Personally, I don’t read comments anymore, I don’t go on social media much. Hahaha!”)

Irene emphasized family support: “One of the most important things is yung guidance ni Mama and ni Papa na talagang they’re talking to us na ‘Si Lord nga dinuraan pa sa mukha, lahat na lang, binato ng kung ano-ano, never siyang nagsalita.’ So kaming magkakapatid, iniiyak na lang namin, and pinagpi-pray na lang namin ang lahat. We know naman na lahat ng ginagawa namin… simula bata kami hanggang ngayon, kami yung breadwinners ng family namin, so we just need to focus on our goal… Sana lang, ma-stop na rin and sana suportahan na lang din nila kami.”

(“One of the most important things is the guidance of Mama and Papa who really talk to us. Even the Lord was spat on the face, thrown with everything, He never spoke. So, we sisters just cry and pray about everything. We know that everything we do… since we were kids until now, we are the breadwinners of our family, so we just need to focus on our goal… Hopefully, it will stop, and hopefully, they will just support us.”)

As for the youngest among them, Celina: “That’s our problem in this world: yung talagang social media can ruin someone’s life and destroy your mental—”

Enteng the Dragon provided a hopeful perspective: “Pero ano yan, part lang yan ng showbiz… You’ll overcome those comments. Later on, magiging proud na rin sila sa inyo. Sa ngayon siguro hindi pa, pero ‘do you, prove them wrong.’”

(“But that’s just part of showbiz… You’ll overcome those comments. Later on, they’ll be proud of you. Maybe not now, but ‘do you, prove them wrong.’”)

‘4th Impact — next level. Parang version 2.’

Almira discussed her thoughts about their Las Vegas concert, saying that this is the next level and new version of their group.

“Actually, it’s been a challenge for us that every week we are invited and nakakataba ng puso na pinagkakatiwalaan kami with these producers, but now I’m just telling everyone that this Las Vegas Pinoy Champ show, yung effort and time na binigay namin to make this show different from others—kasi every week nakikita nila kami sa social media—so this one, talagang special kasi we’re giving people here in Las Vegas a glimpse of 4th Impact — next level. Parang version 2. Something na we haven’t seen before.

(“Actually, it’s been a challenge for us that every week we are invited and it’s heartwarming that producers trust us, but now I’m just telling everyone that this Las Vegas Pinoy Champ show, the effort and time we’ve given to make this show different from others—because every week they see us on social media—so this one is really special because we’re giving people here in Las Vegas a glimpse of 4th Impact next level. Like version 2. Something we haven’t seen before.

“Kasi talagang sinabi naming we’re here in Vegas, so why not give them something like more Vegas vibes show. Kasi nakikita nila kami, birit, sumasayaw. We want to make an impact, di ba, na it’s not just giving them entertainment but something that we can make Filipinos proud, na ‘Uy, may ganito palang talented Filipinos that we can, sana naman, line up sa Vegas residency, charot!”

(“Because we really said we’re here in Vegas, so why not give them something with more Vegas vibes. Because they see us sing, dance. We want to make an impact, right, that it’s not just giving them entertainment but something that we can make Filipinos proud, like ‘Hey, there are talented Filipinos like this that we can, hopefully, line up for a Vegas residency, just kidding!’)

Raising the Filipino flag

Celina, also shared her excitement for the tour: “Since this is our first US tour, starting with Las Vegas, we want people to not just be amazed, but hopefully they would ask for more after Las Vegas.”

(“Since this is our first US tour, starting with Las Vegas, we want people to not just be amazed, but hopefully they would ask for more after Las Vegas.”)

Irene reflected on their journey: “Actually, na-manifest lang naman ‘tong pagpunta namin sa US, and ngayon nandito na kami. So I think, it’s really true.”

(“Actually, this visit to the US just manifested, and now we are here.”)

Almira added, “Now that we’re given a chance to be in mainstream, little by little mangyayari yung pangarap namin… Yung goals namin [are bigger] dahil now we’re not thinking of ourselves. Ngayon na Filipinos are really appreciating our talent here, especially the Filipino community here, [we have] this responsibility not to just work hard for our family but to work hard to raise Filipino talent sa world stage, na sana dumating yung time na Filipinos [at] P-pop naman yung tinitingala ng maraming tao, especially Western people here…”

(“Now that we are given a chance to be in mainstream, little by little our dreams will come true… Our goals are bigger now because we’re not just thinking of ourselves. Now that Filipinos are really appreciating our talent here, especially the Filipino community here, we have this responsibility not just to work hard for our family but to work hard to elevate Filipino talent on the world stage, so that the time will come when Filipinos and P-pop will be admired by many people, especially Western people here…”)

“Siguro din now that the people, or mostly Filipino people, gave us the chance to be heard…” recalled Celina. “Pinag-pray namin talaga ‘to na may God lead us to the right people who have good heart and generous heart… Sana mabigyan kami ng chance to help other Filipino talents as well to show their talents sa mga tao, and be heard.”

(“Perhaps now that the people, mostly Filipinos, have given us the chance to be heard… We really prayed for this, that God would lead us to the right people who have good and generous hearts… Hopefully, we will be given the chance to help other Filipino talents to showcase their skills to the people and be heard.”)
