Gerald Santos to launch advocacy against abuse with ‘Courage’ concert, ‘Hubad’ single

Filipino singer Gerald Santos is set to launch an advocacy movement aimed at supporting victims of sexual abuse, harassment, and similar experiences. This initiative follows his recent revelation about being raped by a musical director from GMA Network when he was just 15 years old, a disclosure that even led to a Senate hearing.

Titled “Courage,” his upcoming concert reflects his determination to empower others who have endured similar struggles. The event will take place on January 24, at 7 PM, at the Skydome of SM North EDSA.

Adding star power to the event, OPM’s Pop Ballad Royalty Erik Santos will make a special guest appearance. Known for his soulful performances and timeless hits, Erik’s participation adds excitement to the already meaningful event. Other special guests include Sheryn Regis, Elisha, P-pop boy group Aster, and Aicelle Santos, who shares a connection with Gerald as a fellow alumnus of the GMA Network singing competition Pinoy Pop Superstar. The concert’s script and direction are helmed by Antonino Rommel Ramilo.

Tickets are now available through SM Tickets and SM outlets, with prices as follows:

  • SSVIP: ₱5000
  • SVIP: ₱4000
  • VIP: ₱3500
  • Patron: ₱2000
  • Patron Sides: ₱1200

The concert is presented by EchoJham and Visionary in cooperation with Intele, with additional support from Globaltronics.

During a solo media conference attended by CinemaBravo, Gerald shared his motivation for starting the Courage movement:

“I’ll be launching my advocacy, yung Courage movement, to help yung mga victim ng sexual abuse, harassment, ‘rape,’ yung mga gano’n… Kasi, na-realize ko no’ng lumabas ako last year, na-realize ko how hard it was… do’n sa mga biktima. I wanna offer help in every little way I can.” (I’ll be launching my advocacy, the Courage movement, to help victims of sexual abuse, harassment, and rape. I realized when I came forward last year how hard it is for victims. I want to offer help in every little way I can.)

Gerald also shared his thoughts about his latest single, “Hubad” (“Naked”), which is now streaming on various music platforms.

“When I first heard the song, I said to myself, ‘Wow, intriguing ‘tong song na ‘to.’ And I’ve been wanting to offer a new sound, I’ve been wanting to reinvent. So, I thought perfect ‘tong song na ‘to.”

A seasoned performer, Gerald rose to fame as the Season 2 Grand Champion of Pinoy Pop Superstar. He also played Thuy in Miss Saigon UK and participated in international tours from 2017 to 2019.

Watch out for more surprises from Gerald as he kickstarts 2025 with a concert and an advocacy movement.
