Harnessing digital technology: Key to SME growth in PH

In the ever-evolving Philippine market, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) must embrace digital technology to remain competitive.

During its press presentation, cybersecurity consultant Edmark Estavillo of InnovatEd Business Solutions (IBS) underscored the critical role of social media and cybersecurity in ensuring business sustainability and growth.

Estavillo emphasized that as the digital landscape in the Philippines rapidly expands, businesses must prioritize robust cybersecurity measures to safeguard against increasing online threats, which are expected to escalate in 2025. He also highlighted the power of social media platforms, not just for customer engagement but also for strengthening brand awareness and fostering long-term business relationships.

Meanwhile, during a presentation, Vasquez demonstrated the proper approach for sales representatives when handling customer calls—an aspect that can significantly impact a company’s relationship with its clients. “A poorly handled call can result in lost opportunities and damage a brand’s reputation, whereas a well-executed call builds trust, strengthens rapport, and ultimately drives sales,” he explained.

“The demonstration gave attendees valuable insights into the small but crucial details that can influence sales conversion rates and customer loyalty,” Vasquez added.

IBS CEO Khelvin Cruz, in an interview, highlighted the relevance of using Artificial Intelligence (AI) on today’s businesses.

“Siyempre naman, napapanahon ang AI ngayon. Kapag ang business mo ay hindi gumagamit ng AI, like ChatGPT or yung sa mga graphic natin—lahat actually ngayon ay meron na talagang tulong ng AI. So, tinuturuan din namin sila no’n kung paano nila mai-incorporate yung AI sa mga process at business nila.”

(Of course! AI is very relevant nowadays. If your business isn’t using AI, like ChatGPT or AI-powered graphic tools—actually, almost everything now benefits from AI. So, we also teach them how to incorporate AI into their processes and business.”)

He also addressed the operational challenges faced by local SMEs and how their company aims to bridge these gaps. Founded in 2024, IBS is committed to helping SMEs achieve world-class standards in office processes, including corporate structure, accounting, auditing, and financial management.

“One of the biggest pain points for SMEs is that a single individual often manages all office operations, which should not be the case. Assigning all responsibilities to one person increases risks,” Cruz said in an interview during the recent company launch in Ortigas, Pasig City.

“At IBS, we develop customized processes tailored to the specific needs of SMEs,” Cruz added.

Before onboarding clients, IBS conducts thorough interviews with a company’s business units to assess their current performance. “For instance, we can help a manufacturing company implement proper techniques to minimize, if not eliminate, waste,” Cruz explained.

The onboarding evaluation process typically spans six months to a year. The second phase focuses on developing tailored solutions that address each client’s specific business needs.

Cruz also noted that artificial intelligence (AI) will play a crucial role in enhancing their clients’ operational capabilities.

With its strategic approach, IBS aspires to be a driving force behind business transformation, equipping SMEs with the right tools and strategies for sustainable growth and long-term success.
