DJs Nicole Hyala, Diego Bandido (former scholars) praise Bam Aquino’s free college law

Love Radio’s duo, Nicole Hyala and Diego Bandido, who both benefited from college scholarships, expressed their appreciation for former Senator Bam Aquino’s free college law. The hosts of Kumikinang na Tambalan highlighted how the legislation has given students the opportunity to pursue their dream courses and build a brighter future.

“Maraming gustong mag-aral pero walang opportunity. Pero with that law, napakalaking bagay talaga. Sobra,” Diego shared during their show’s episode on Tuesday (Jan. 28). “Ito ang nakakalungkot kung minsan.”

Nicole echoed the sentiment, saying “Ang hirap mag-aral pero mas mahirap ang walang pinag-aralan. Kaya mas maganda na meron. Nicole also shared that she was fortunate to have completed her college education at Assumption College through a scholarship, as her mother was an employee of the school. “Hindi ko makakalimutan kung paano talaga pinush ng nanay ko na makapag-aral talaga ako nang maayos dahil iba talaga ang edukasyon,” said Nicole, who later became president of the Assumption Student Council.

Diego, on the other hand, said his determination to lift his family out of poverty motivated him to apply for a scholarship from a foundation. “Ang haba ng pila. Nagulat ako nakapasa ako. Ang sarap ng feeling noong nakuha ko iyong scholarship at natapos ko ang four-year course,” he said.

Bam, who was a guest on the show, said the law has given millions of students across the country an opportunity to finish college despite financial constraints. “Pag-ikot natin, marami talagang magulang, kabataan, nakapagtapos kami dahil sa batas. Ang ganda ng batas na iyan dahil nakakatulong sa tao,” he said. If elected to the Senate in the upcoming polls, Bam plans to expand the free college law and ensure guaranteed jobs for Filipinos.
