Angkasangga Partylist urges inclusion of motorcycles in national transport plan

Highlighting the crucial role of motorcycles in easing transportation woes, the Angkasangga Partylist has reaffirmed its commitment to integrating them into the national transport plan. This initiative aims to enhance mobility while creating economic opportunities for informal workers.

Angkasangga Partylist First Nominee and Angkas CEO George Royeca emphasized this pledge during the 29th National Convention of the Kababayan Riders Association for a New Cultural Harmony and Order Inc. (KARANCHO), held in Davao City on Jan. 25.

“Our goal is to integrate motorcycles more comprehensively into the national transport plan. Doing so will lead to greater economic opportunities for informal workers and uplift the lives of our tricycle drivers, vendors, and freelancers,” Royeca said.

“We believe that motorcycles are essential in addressing transportation challenges, especially in underserved areas, as they provide affordable and dependable means of mobility, especially for our workers who serve as breadwinners,” he added.

Royeca also reiterated Angkasangga’s commitment to championing the rights and welfare of informal workers in Congress and addressing urgent issues like public transportation, job creation, and worker protection.

Angkasangga advocates for key labor reforms, including paid sick leave and government-mandated benefits for informal workers and accident insurance for members of the Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (TODA).

Television and movie personality Vice Ganda recently declared full support for Angkasangga Partylist and its advocacy to promote the welfare of breadwinners, especially in the informal sector.

“Sa dami ng pinagdaanan ninyo sa pagsuporta sa pamilya niyo, kailangan niyo ng kasangga na proproteksyunan at susuportahan kayo. At ‘yan ang 107 Angkasangga,” Vice Ganda said, lauding Royeca’s strong commitment to representing and protecting the country’s workers.
