How to join the first FAMAS Short Film Festival

The FAMAS Short Film Festival 2025 marks a new chapter in Philippine cinema as a festival exclusively dedicated to short films. Organized by REMS Entertainment, the event is spearheaded by filmmaker Gabby Ramos, known for his award-winning work “Huling Sayaw ni Erlinda,” which won Best Short Film at FAMAS 2024.

During a recent media interview, Ms. Francia Conrado, President of FAMAS (Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences), emphasized that this inaugural festival aims to celebrate Filipino filmmakers’ creativity and storytelling, offering a distinguished platform for short-form films.

As the festival director, Direk Gabby is excited to bring this initiative to life. He also gives importance on diversity and innovation in short filmmaking.

“Ma’am Francia has always dreamed of awarding short films, just like FAMAS has done for decades in its main event. Like her, I believe that short filmmakers are the future of Philippine cinema. That is also our vision at REMS Entertainment, especially after we launched VS Cinema in Quezon City. This is why we proposed to produce this event.”

The festival is now accepting entries, with a submission deadline on March 25, 2025. Following the cinema screenings from May 5 to 9, the Awards Night will take place on May 10.
