After ‘Ang Probinsyano’, Joel Torre, Yassi Pressman reunite via ‘Isolated’

Fans of Coco Martin’s hit action series Ang Probinsyano were once delighted by the onscreen chemistry between Joel Torre and Yassi Pressman. After the show concluded in 2022, the two are back together in a whole new genre—horror. This time, they are taking audiences on a thrilling ride in the new film ‘Isolated’, from the writer-director of Netflix surprise hit ‘Lolo and the Kid’, which also stars Torre along with Kapuso child wonder Euwenn Mikaell. From Benedict Mique and produced by Viva Films, ‘Isolated’ is set to hit cinemas on April 30, 2025.

Joel Torre: A veteran’s return to horror

Torre’s return to the horror genre in ‘Isolated’ marks an exciting moment in his career. Having appeared in iconic films like the first and fourth installment of the horror anthology film series ‘Shake, Rattle, & Roll,’ Torre reflects on his past horror roles and his new experience working on this film.

“Kami ni Yassi, I’ve worked with Yassi sa ‘[Ang] Probinsyano’. Limang taon tayo noon, ‘no? Limang taon,” he shared during the film’s media conference held on April 8 in Quezon City.

(Yassi and I have worked together on [Ang] Probinsyano. We’ve done five years, right? Five years.)

In Isolated, Torre takes on the role of Peter, an elderly man with dementia, whose mysterious personality adds to the film’s eerie tension. He shares his excitement about his character, hinting at the depth and complexity of his role.

“For the first time, malaki yung role ko rito… hindi dapat i-reveal. Baka… ma-preempt. Kailangan panoorin n’yo.”

(For the first time, I have a big role in this… it shouldn’t be revealed. It might spoil it. You need to watch it.)

Yassi Pressman: Starstruck yet ready for her big return

While the reunion with Torre is a special one, Pressman is also stepping into a new and challenging role. Playing Rose, a nurse who uncovers terrifying secrets in a secluded house, Pressman feels both excited and nervous to be working with Torre again.

“Honestly, I would just like to say, I love working with you always, Tito Joel. Talagang blessing po talaga (It’s really a blessing) from Day 1 of working with someone like Tito Joel, who’s so talented, has been in the industry for so long, is respected, but is also kind, and an open book—anything you want to ask him, you can.”

Despite their strong professional bond, Pressman still finds herself starstruck by her co-star.

“Sabi ko, ‘Tito Joel, nai-starstruck pa rin ako!’ Ang tawag ko po sa kanya sa Ang Probinsyano, Tay. E dito, different dynamic po talaga!” she continued.

(I told him, ‘Tito Joel, I’m still starstruck!’ I call him Tay in Ang Probinsyano. But here, it’s a different dynamic!)

Pressman also shares that working with Torre has made the entire set of Isolated relaxed, with the exception of her own nerves.

“After no’n, wala, (After that, it’s nothing,) it’s a very, very relaxed set. Relaxed set with everyone, really. It’s just the script that’s not relaxed, and me. Because I’m always nervous.”

Isolated: Story of horror, suspense, mysterious secrets

In ‘Isolated,’ Pressman’s character, Rose, takes a job as a private nurse for Peter, played by Torre. As she settles into the role, strange occurrences begin to make her question Peter’s true nature and the eerie house where they’re living.

What starts as a seemingly straightforward job turns into a nightmare as Rose experiences disturbing visions and grows increasingly paranoid.

Under the direction of Gawad Urian-nominated Benedict Mique, Isolated features a talented ensemble cast, including Candy Pangilinan, Wilbert Ross, Gwen Garci, Yayo Aguila, and Denise Esteban. Together, they bring to life a gripping tale of suspense and supernatural horror that will leave viewers questioning what’s real and what’s not.

With the reunion of Joel Torre and Yassi Pressman, Isolated is a film you won’t want to miss. The tension-filled script, combined with stellar performances from the cast, makes this psychological thriller one of the most anticipated films of the year.

Catch Isolated in cinemas nationwide on April 30, 2025. Will Rose uncover the truth behind the haunting presence in Peter’s house, or will she become another victim of the horrors that lie within?
