Labor and youth groups back Marcy, Maan Teodoro

Several labor unions and a youth group have officially declared support for the candidacy of Marcy Teodoro for Mayor and Maan Teodoro for 1st District Representative of Marikina.

In a joint statement, the Manggagawa Para sa Kapakanan at Pagkakaisa sa Armscor (MAKAPA-ARMSCOR), Samahan ng Manggagawa sa Sunlight Food Corporation (SMSFC), Samahang Manggagawa ng Ponderosa Leather Goods Company, Inc. (SMPLGC), Kapatirang Samahan ng Manggagawang (KASAMA) Labor Federation, and the National Confederation of Labor (NCL) said the Teodoros have consistently proven their leadership, especially in times of crisis such as the pandemic and natural disasters.

These organizations praised the leadership of the Teodoros, noting their consistent presence and quick action during the pandemic and other disasters.

(We want leaders who won’t abandon us, whether there’s a pandemic or a typhoon. We want someone who moves quickly, is with us, and is visible not only during campaigns. We want a leader whose governance is praised not only in Marikina but nationwide for his dedication and skill in addressing crises during the pandemic and natural disasters.)

“Dahil dito, ang mga manggagawa ng Marikina, kasama ang aming pamilya at ang malaking mayorya ng mamamayan ng Marikina, ay nagpahayag ng pagsuporta sa buong Team MARikina City. Ipaglalaban namin sila at ipagtatanggol, tulad ng paglaban at pagtatanggol nila sa mga manggagawa,” they added.

(Because of this, the workers of Marikina, along with our families and the majority of the citizens, declare our support for the entire Team MARikina City. We will fight for them and defend them, just as they have fought for and defended the workers.)

They also denounced politicians who use politics merely as a tool to gain power and wealth, those who pretend to be Marikeños just to qualify for candidacy, and those who change their stance based on political convenience.

“Ayaw namin ng politikong hindi patas lumaban. Ayaw namin ng politikong idedemanda ang kanilang mga kalaban para lang makaungos sila sa puwesto,” the groups said.

(We don’t want politicians who don’t fight fair. We don’t want those who sue their opponents just to get ahead.)

Meanwhile, the Kabataang Marikeño Organization also issued an official statement of support for the Teodoros and Team MARikina City, citing Mayor Marcy Teodoro’s track record and programs that have benefitted the youth.

They praised the peace, order, and cleanliness of the city, attributing it to Mayor Teodoro’s years of dedicated service.

“Ang bayan ng Marikina ay tahimik, walang gulo at walang kalat. Sa ilang taong pamumuno ng ating Ama ng Lungsod (Mayor Marcy Teodoro), pinatunayan niya na mahal niya ang Marikina, kung saan siya lumaki at nanirahan,” the group said.

(Marikina is peaceful, free of conflict and litter. Through the years of our City Father’s leadership, he has shown that he truly loves Marikina, where he was born and raised.)

The group vowed to stand with and defend Teodoro without expecting anything in return, saying he has consistently addressed the needs of Marikenos through the years, especially the youth.

“Tumutulong at nararamdaman simula noon hanggang ngayon, May unos man, bagyo, sunog o baha, ramdam natin sila dahil mahal nila ang ating lungsod. LABAN MARIKINA!” it stressed.

(He has always been there and continues to help us. Whether during a storm, typhoon, fire, or flood, we feel their presence because they love our city. FIGHT FOR MARIKINA!)
