MTRCB classifies nearly 70,000 materials in Q1 2025

From January to March 2025, the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) reviewed and classified close to 70,000 materials across film, television, and promotional content.

This total reflects a notable rise from the 59,095 materials processed during the same period in 2024.

Of the 69,643 materials reviewed this year, 68,953 were submitted for television—including programs, plugs, and trailers. The Board also classified 159 films spanning local, independent, and international productions, as well as 118 movie trailers. In addition, 413 publicity and optical media materials were assessed during the first quarter.

By upholding strict guidelines in its review procedures, the MTRCB, led by Chairperson and CEO Lala Sotto-Antonio, remains committed to promoting responsible viewing.

“This is part of the agency’s effort to ensure that films, television programs and publicity materials meet the age-appropriate rating and classification standards in a bid to protect audiences from content that may be offensive, especially to younger viewers,” said Sotto-Antonio.

Said Sotto-Antonio: “This accomplishment also demonstrates the unwavering dedication of our 31 Board Members who put in a lot of effort to make sure that all submitted materials are age-appropriate.”

As the media landscape continues to evolve, MTRCB also strengthens its campaign for “Responsableng Panonood” (Responsible Viewing) through industry consultations, campaigns, and other initiatives.

“Rest assured that the Board is dedicated to ensuring that every member of the Filipino family has a safe and comfortable viewing experience,” Sotto-Antonio added, stressing that the Agency’s top priority is still to protect Filipino children from exposure to any content that could be disturbing to their young minds.
