Several women’s organizations in Marikina have united to support the mayoral candidacy of Marikina 1st District Rep. Maan Teodoro. These groups, which include representatives from private schools, zumba communities, families of migrant workers, homeowners’ associations, and grassroots organizations, have pledged their full support, highlighting Teodoro’s unwavering commitment to advocating for a women-centered agenda.
Urban poor leader Aida Ogma shared the coalition’s belief that Teodoro will continue the progress made by her husband, Mayor Marcy Teodoro, particularly in ensuring a safer and more inclusive environment for women in Marikina.
“Tiwala rin kami na itutuloy ni Mayor Maan ang mga maasahan at garantisadong serbisyo ng lokal na pamahalaan, lalo na para sa kapakanan ng kababaihan,” she said.
(We also trust that Mayor Maan will continue the reliable and guaranteed services of the local government, especially for the welfare of women.)
The groups also expressed confidence in Teodoro’s ability to sustain and expand pro-Filipino programs that support local industries, especially small businesses and entrepreneurs.
“Higit pa riyan, batid namin na ang liderato ng Teodoro ay tapat sa paglilingkod sa taumbayan. Subok na ito sa ilalim ng pamumuno ni Mayor Marcy na alam naming itutuloy ni Mayor Maan,” Ogma added.
(Beyond that, we know that the leadership of the Teodoros is sincere in serving the people. This has been proven under Mayor Marcy’s leadership, which we know Mayor Maan will continue.)
The groups are calling on more women to stand for what’s right and for a leadership that delivers with integrity.
The lawmaker has earned the backing of various Marikina labor and youth groups, lauding her dependable leadership, especially during times of crisis such as the pandemic and various natural calamities.
More than 40 Marikina City clans and stakeholders from the shoe industry have also expressed their full support for Teodoro.
