“Iba talaga mag-alaga lalo na kapag babae [ang anak]. Mas sensitive sila, mas maarte,” shared Dennis Trillo as he reflected on fatherhood with his youngest daughter, Dylan Jade.
(It’s really different caring for a daughter. They’re more sensitive, a bit more particular.)
In a heartfelt moment during his launch as the newest brand ambassador of Belle Dolls’ Zero Filter Sunscreen on May 8 in a hotel in Quezon City, the Kapuso Drama King opened up about parenting in a blended family. Together with his wife, Kapuso Ultimate Star Jennylyn Mercado, Dennis is raising their daughter Dylan alongside their children from previous relationships—Calix, Dennis’ son with Carlene Aguilar, and Jazz, Jennylyn’s son with Patrick Garcia.
Lessons from the past
“Pero siguro ang pinakanatutunan ko habang inaalagaan itong aming bunso: dito talaga yung time na nakatutok kami—si Jen, kami ng asawa ko—na palakihin talaga nang nakatutok kami every step of the way, dahil kumbaga yung mga pagkukulang namin sa mga nauna naming mga anak, dito namin ibubuhos,” he explained.
(What I’ve learned most while raising our youngest is that this is really the time when my wife and I are fully present. We’re involved in every step, making up for past shortcomings.)
Dennis admitted that their early years as parents were a time of figuring things out. “No’ng [unang] time na nagkaroon kami ng mga anak, medyo nangangapa-ngapa pa kami. Mga bata pa [kami no’n], pero lahat ng mga experience namin do’n, kumbaga nai-correct namin at ngayon, siguro, kaya mas magaling kami na parents ngayon dahil do’n sa mga bagay na ‘yon.”
(We were still figuring it all out back then. We were young, but we’ve learned from those experiences. Now we’re better parents because of those lessons.)
What Dennis admires about Jen as a mom
When asked what he admired most about Jennylyn in their parenting journey, Dennis didn’t hesitate. “Lagi ko ‘tong sinasabi sa mga interview, yung ability [ni Jennylyn] ng pagdidisiplina, napakaimportante ‘yon,” he said.
(I always say this—Jennylyn’s ability to discipline is so important.)
(That’s my weakness and her strength. She can give tough love. I’m a softie. I admire her for that, and I believe it helps raise good kids.)
Why Belle Dolls chose Dennis as ambassador
It was this grounded, family-centered persona that made Dennis the perfect fit for Belle Dolls, according to Beautéderm founder and CEO Rhea Tan.
“Number one kasi, pag sinasabi mong endorser, laging babae, di ba? Laging sexy, laging mabuti, di ba? Kailangan din nating pagamitin talaga ‘yung mga lalaki,” said Tan.
(When we say ‘endorser,’ we often think of women—sexy, flawless. But we need to get men to use these products too.)
She joked about male skincare habits: “Yung ibang mga lalaki, kung anong sabon sa mukha, ‘yon na rin [ang] sabon sa katawan hanggang sa pinakababa, tama? So, parang lugi naman ako sa kanila.”
(Some men use the same soap from head to toe. I feel shortchanged by that!)
Inclusive protection: Dennis believes sunscreen is for everyone
Dennis echoed her sentiments, emphasizing that skincare is for everyone. “Men should also protect their skin—especially when we’re exposed to the sun all the time,” he said. “I always apply Belle Dolls Zero Filter Sunscreen before going on motorcycle rides. It gives me confidence that my skin’s protected.”
He also expressed appreciation for Tan’s warm treatment. “Ms. Rhea has always been kind to my family. She’s a businesswoman who truly cares not just for her endorsers, but also for her consumers and the community.”
Belle Dolls Zero Filter Sunscreen is part of the Beautéderm Group of Companies. The sunscreen is available in two variants: an 80mL mist and a 50mL lotion. Both are formulated to protect the skin from harmful UV rays, minimize blemishes, and improve skin tone and texture while keeping it moisturized.
Tan and Trillo now invite everyone—men and women alike—to begin a zero-filter journey with them.
As Tan put it, “Kasi pareho na kaming nasa 40+ na rin ni Dennis, kailangang forever na bagets kami pag nandito sa Beautéderm and Belle Dolls na family.”
(Dennis and I are both over 40, but we have to look forever young with Beautéderm and the Belle Dolls family.)
Belle Dolls Zero Filter Sunscreen Mist and Lotion are now available in stores nationwide.
