To mark National Cancer Survivor Month, the Pandesal Forum held a timely public discussion on the latest advancements in cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment last June 2, 2025, at the historic Kamuning Bakery Café in Quezon City owned by veteran columnist and entrepreneur Wilson Lee Flores, who is also a longtime host of the forum series.
The forum featured Dr. Mu Feng (穆峰), an internationally respected oncology consultant and oncosurgeon. Holding both M.D. and Ph.D. degrees, Dr. Mu is a specialist in minimally invasive oncology and a professor at the Jinshazhou Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine. He discussed innovative methods that can significantly improve cancer cure rates, such as:
- The CTC (Circulating Tumor Cells) Test, which enables super-early detection of cancer at the cellular level;
- NK (Natural Killer) Cell Therapy, a method of boosting the body’s immune system to attack and eliminate cancer cells;
- And Hydrogen Medicine, a developing field that explores how molecular hydrogen can reduce oxidative stress and inflammation linked to cancer.
Held at the Kamuning Bakery Café, the event took place in one of Quezon City’s most historic landmarks—an 85-year-old establishment known not just for its traditional pandesal, but also for hosting intellectual discourse and civic engagement through the Pandesal Forum.
The event was streamed live on Kamuning Bakery Café’s Facebook page, where the session offered critical insights for cancer patients, survivors, and advocates.
