A mysterious diary sends a rebellious young woman back in time to 1892 in the widely celebrated Wattpad novel I Love You Since 1892. Authored by Binibining Mia, the historical romance has captured more than 132 million reads since its 2016 release. The phenomenal story now transitions from page to screen as a Viva One original, produced by Studio Viva in collaboration with Webtoon Productions.
Nearly ten years after its publication, the beloved tale is set to enchant an even larger audience in 2025 through its highly anticipated series adaptation. Leading the cast is Viva’s award-winning actress Heaven Peralejo, who brings the iconic heroine to life.
Joining her are Viva’s prime actors and heartthrobs Jerome Ponce and Joseph Marco, who will play key roles in the romantic journey of Peralejo’s character. The series is helmed by acclaimed director McArthur C. Alejandre, adding further prestige to the project.
With its combination of star power, a proven story with millions of fans, and the backing of top production companies, I Love You Since 1892 is poised to become one of Viva One’s biggest original releases of 2025.
During a trip to San Alfonso, Carmela Isabella (Peralejo) discovers that she looks exactly like her great-great-grandmother Carmelita, from the extremely rich clan of Montecarlos. Then, with the appearance of a nun named Madre Olivia and a diary which holds details about her Lola Carmelita’s tragic love story, Carmela is transported back to 1892. There, she assumes the identity of Carmelita. Her mission: to stop Carmelita’s wedding to Juanito and save the latter’s life.
Now assuming Carmelita’s identity, Carmela is instantly attracted to the good-looking, intelligent, and kindhearted Juanito Alfonso (Ponce). Son of a powerful gobernadorcillo, Juanito’s life is already planned out. He is expected to be a doctor, although his interest is in painting. But things begin to shift when he meets Carmela as Carmelita.
The two can’t help falling in love, but Carmela reminds herself to stick to her mission so she can return to the present. Meanwhile, Carmelita’s ex, Leandro Flores (Marco), returns from military training in Cuba. He learns about the wedding and wants to stop it, too.
Amidst their love triangle, the trio must also deal with political scandals and personal tragedies.
At the cast reveal of this series, director McArthur C. Alejandre said that he was drawn to the story because it has a “very young, very energetic” vibe, and promised that the same energy will be translated on screen. “You will be satisfied visually,” he guaranteed.
Binibining Mia, the brilliant author herself, expressed her approval of the casting, especially after watching the teaser. “Kahit wala pong sabihin yung mga character, kaya pong mangusap ng mga mata. At nakita ko po sa mga tingin nila na sumanib sa kanila sina Juanito, Leandro, at Carmela,” she said, earning cheers from the audience.
“I Love You Since 1892” also boasts of a solid support cast. Completing the Montecarlos Family are Christian Vasquez as Don Alejandro, Carmelita’s father; Maricel Morales as Donya Soledad, Carmelita’s mother; Louise Delos Reyes as Maria and Anna Luna as Josefina, Carmelita’s sisters.
The Alfonso Family is composed of Soliman Cruz as Don Mariano, Juanito’s father; Andrea Del Rosario as Donya Juanita, mother; Billy Jake Cortez as Heneral Sergio, Ashley Diaz as Sonya, and Gabriel Evangelista as Angelito as Juanito’s siblings.
The Flores Family is composed of Christopher Roxas as Kapitan Vicente, Leandro’s father; Christine Bermas as Natasha and Liz Gonzales as Helena, his siblings. Leandro’s mother is already deceased.
Suzette Ranillo plays Madre Olivia, a mysterious nun who serves as Carmela’s guide in the past.
Because of its strong message about the power of love, “I Love You Since 1892” has been loved by millions. It’s time that you and more people experience it. Premiering this September 6, be sure to stream it on Viva One.
