Filipino-Chinese community donates ₱10 million for typhoon relief

The Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) has mobilized a nationwide relief drive worth Ten Million Pesos (₱10,000,000) to support communities across Luzon affected by recent typhoons and flooding.

The large-scale initiative is carried out in partnership with the “Filipino at Tsino Magkaibigan Foundation” and 30 Filipino Chinese community associations. It includes 50,000 bags of 5-kilo rice and other essential supplies for Metro Manila, Baguio, Pangasinan, La Union, Tarlac, Bulacan, Pampanga, Olongapo, and Palawan.

Relief efforts in Quezon City

A dedicated portion of the donation was allocated for Quezon City, where relief operations are being conducted on August 28 and 29, 2025. The city-wide drive is jointly organized with the office of Mayor Joy Belmonte and the Philippine Star’s humanitarian arm, Operation Damayan, under President Miguel Belmonte.

The Quezon City distribution covers six districts and was formally launched at Dr. Jose Jara Martinez High School in Barangay Tatalon, District 4. The ceremony highlighted the turnover of an earlier ₱1-million donation from FFCCCII to Operation Damayan and marked the official start of the two-day aid distribution.

Among those present at the launch were District 2 Councilor Mikey Belmonte, District 4 Councilor Atty. Vincent Belmonte, Councilor Egay Yap, Councilor Raquel Malangen, Councilor Migz Suntay, Councilor Imee Rillo, Councilor Nanette Daza, Barangay Chairman Dick Bañega, and the Operation Damayan team led by Philippine Star HR head Emie Cruz.

Call for unity and hope

FFCCCII Executive Vice President Jeffrey Ng addressed beneficiaries and city officials during the turnover.

“On behalf of the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. and the ‘Filipino at Tsino Magkaibigan Foundation,’ it is both our duty and our profound honor to stand with you today,” Ng said, stressing the importance of compassion and collaboration.

He added, “Driven by the spirit of bayanihan, our Federation, together with 30 generous Filipino Chinese community associations and the members of our Foundation, have mobilized in the past weeks… donating over ₱10 Million Pesos worth of essential goods and food supplies.”

In a heartfelt message to the affected families, Ng encouraged residents to remain resilient: “Nakikiusap po kami sa inyo: Huwag po kayong mawawalan ng pag-asa. Ang hamon ng panahon ay malaki, ngunit mas malaki ang ating puso para magtulungan… Lubos po kaming naniniwala na ang pagkakaisa ang siyang sagot sa anumang pagsubok.”

(We appeal to you: Please do not lose hope. The challenge we face is great, but our heart to help one another is greater… We firmly believe that unity is the answer to any trial.)
