Revival King Jojo Mendrez is rekindling his collaboration with Rainier Castillo, remembered as one of the top male contestants of GMA’s reality show StarStruck Season 1. Rainier came from the same batch as Mark Herras, who was also linked to Mendrez.
Super Jojo, as he is now fondly called, spoke warmly about working again with Rainier. Rainier will be part of Jojo’s buzzed-about series Escashlator, and the two also teamed up for the pilot of Haharangin Kita. They are also slated to appear together at a major event this November at Gateway, though details are still under wraps. Jojo described Rainier as genuinely kind.
On the other hand, Mendrez did not like the remarks Mark made in his interview with Ogie Diaz. In that interview, Mark claimed he lost projects because of issues with Jojo and even remarked, “Mas malaki pa ang nawala sa akin, sa nakuha ko sa inyo” (I lost more than what I gained from you), referring to his failure to attend an event despite having already received payment from Jojo’s team.
In a Facebook video, Jojo hinted that he might call another press conference to address the matter. He also urged Mark not to use his name for the promotion of Mark’s upcoming movie and to instead focus on his own project. It may be recalled that Jojo once considered filing a case against Mark over threats made against him.
As for his music, Jojo announced that his special performance video of “Somewhere in My Past” will be released digitally on September 26, coinciding with his birthday.
