Biomed Pharma Inc. celebrated a milestone in its journey toward providing quality and affordable healthcare as it inaugurated its new office at 2097 Del Pilar Street, Malate, Manila (Aspire Tower), coinciding with its 15th Anniversary Celebration.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony, attended by select media including CinemaBravo, was followed by a festive anniversary program and celebration held in a hotel in Manila, attended by company executives, distributors, and special guests from both the Philippines and Bangladesh.
A Look Back: Biomed Pharma Inc.’s Beginnings
Biomed Pharma Inc. is a 90% foreign-owned company whose main line is branded generic medicines. It imports or procures generic versions of pharmaceuticals but markets them under specific brand names.
Its mission is to provide high-quality branded generic medicines at affordable prices to the Filipino people and to expand its network of distributors and wholesalers across the country and beyond. Its vision is to be a leading pharmaceutical company in the Philippines and in the region, known for excellence in quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction.
The company was established in late 2009 with a focus on registering and getting product approvals from the Philippines’ FDA. It started as Medicina Cosmetica earlier in 2009 at the 5th Floor of Marbella 2 Building through the effort of the late Dr. Faruque, then Managing Director of Delta Pharma, and the late Ms. Lina, a Filipina who also served as Corporate Secretary of Biomed.
Founders, Operations, and Product Range
The main founders are Dr. Faruque and Ms. Lina. Leadership later passed to Dr. Zakir, the current President, and Mr. Kashem, the Head of Finance.
Biomed’s product line includes antihypertension products, antacids or anti-ulcerants, anti-asthma, anti-gout, antibacterials, cardiovascular products, and muscle relaxants, among others.
Biomed entered the Philippines with the support of the Bangladeshi manufacturing company Delta Pharma Limited. The company operates through distributors to make its products available nationwide.
There are currently 31 registered products available locally, all made in Bangladesh and approved by the Philippines FDA. More products are lined up for approval.
Over the years, Biomed has also engaged in community service. It conducted feeding programs, especially during the pandemic, and sponsored medical missions as part of its outreach.
Expanding Markets and Product Lines
The company aims to increase the number of distributors and wholesalers to make the Biomed brand more known in the pharmaceutical industry. It also plans to expand its market share in the generic medicine sector and grow its product line to include vials and injectables in the near future.
The new office covers a total area of 388 square meters. Renovation lasted around six months, while the building itself is about five years old.
The expansion aims to accommodate more staff due to increased hiring from business success and new projects. It also enhances the company’s image and capacity to welcome more distributors.
Guests included the Bangladeshi ambassador to the Philippines, VIPs from major distributors, and local officials. About 60 guests were expected, but the number continued to increase leading up to the event.
Aside from the new office and anniversary celebration, Biomed highlights its goal to promote and increase its line of products at affordable prices, adopting its slogan “Mabisang Gamot, sa Presyong Abot na Abot.”
