Heart Evangelista’s fans clap back at Vice Ganda over ‘bulok na school’ remark on ‘Showtime’

Fans of Heart Evangelista have reacted strongly to Vice Ganda’s recent remarks on It’s Showtime, saying the comedian barked up the wrong tree with her statement.

During a recent episode of the noontime show, Vice shared a story about one of her charitable acts when she previously visited Sorsogon, the home province of Heart Evangelista. The conversation arose after a contestant in the segment Laro, Laro, Pick talked about struggling to support her children’s education.

Vice said, “May pinuntahan akong lugar do’n sa probinsiya nina Heart Evangelista, na isang paaralan na walang reading materials. Pinagawa ko ‘yong eskwelahan.”

(I once went to a place in Heart Evangelista’s province where a school had no reading materials. I had the school repaired.)

She continued, “Nagpadala ako ng tulong do’n kasi walang reading materials. Bulok ‘yong paaralan do’n sa lugar nina Heart Evangelista. (I sent help because there were no reading materials. The school in Heart Evangelista’s area was in poor condition.) I cried so much when I saw that school.”

Following the episode, several fans questioned why Vice mentioned Heart’s name, emphasizing that such concerns should be addressed to government agencies like the Department of Education (DepEd) or the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

DPWH Secretary Vince Hizon earlier told the Senate Committee on Finance that only 22 classrooms have been completed this year under the agency’s proposed 2026 budget. Fans cited this to note that school infrastructure remains a government responsibility.

Some residents of Bicol also expressed disappointment over Vice’s description of a school in their area as “bulok” (in poor condition). They posted photos to show that their schools are properly maintained and contain reading materials.

While acknowledging her intention to help, fans urged Vice to be more cautious in recounting personal experiences to prevent misunderstandings and avoid dragging others into unrelated issues.

Supporters reiterated that good deeds should be shared accurately and respectfully, without causing offense to those not involved.
