A social media post circulating on Reddit has accused Batangas 1st District Representative Leandro Leviste of harassing then Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Undersecretary Catalina Cabral during an alleged incident inside her office.
The allegation surfaced through a Reddit post shared on the forum r/DPWHEngineersPH, where user u/Unlucky-Love5132 claimed that Leviste allegedly entered Cabral’s office on the night before a congressional hearing and forcibly took documents from her hands.
The post has recently resurfaced on various social media platforms following reports about Cabral’s death. She was found after reportedly falling into a ravine along Kennon Road on Thursday. The Department of the Interior and Local Government later confirmed her identity through DNA testing.
Prior to her death, Cabral had resigned from her post after being implicated in the controversial flood control scandal.
In the Reddit post, the user asserted that the alleged confrontation occurred just hours before a scheduled hearing.
“Totoo po ito — nangyari mismo sa opisina ni Usec. Cabral gabi bago ang hearing,” the Reddit user wrote.
(This is true — it happened inside Undersecretary Cabral’s office on the night before the hearing.)
The user further alleged that the lawmaker acted aggressively and forcibly grabbed documents from Cabral, causing a paper cut on her finger.
According to the same post, Cabral was reportedly seen wearing a bandage on her finger during the congressional hearing the following day, which the user claimed was a result of the alleged incident rather than a minor accident.
“Kaya noong sumunod na araw sa hearing, mapapansin niyo nakabenda ang kanyang daliri — hindi dahil sa simpleng aksidente, kundi dahil mismo sa insidente sa loob ng kanyang sariling opisina,” the post stated.
(That’s why during the hearing the next day, you could notice that her finger was bandaged — not because of a simple accident, but because of the incident inside her own office.)
The Reddit user expressed concern over the alleged behavior, saying it was alarming for an elected official to supposedly barge into the office of a sitting government undersecretary and forcibly take documents, allegedly causing injury in the process.
“Nakakagulat at nakakaalarma na ganito ang ugali ng isang halal na opisyal – pumapasok sa opisina ng isang undersecretary at pilit inaagaw ang dokumento, to the point na nasaktan pa ang opisyal,” the user added.
(It is shocking and alarming that an elected official would behave this way — entering the office of an undersecretary and forcibly taking documents, to the point of injuring the official.)
