Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) spokesperson, talent manager and online show host Noel Ferrer has named Senator Bam Aquino and Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto as the Level Up People of the Year 2025. He cites their consistent commitment to transparency, integrity, and principled governance.

Through his online program Level Up, Ferrer highlighted how both public officials demonstrated leadership that goes beyond rhetoric and results in concrete action that benefits Filipinos.

“In a year where leadership is often defined by words, Mayor Vico Sotto and Senator Bam Aquino stand out for turning actions into tangible progress. These two leaders have shown Filipinos what it means to serve with integrity and courage, making them deserving of being the Level Up People of the Year 2025,” Noel said.

Aquino, who placed second in the 2025 senatorial race, was commended for maintaining a strong rapport with young Filipinos and for pushing forward reforms through legislation, including the proposed Blockchain the Budget Act, which aims to strengthen transparency and accountability in public spending.

“With a campaign fueled by young voters, he translated that momentum into impactful legislation. From pushing for educational reforms to championing the Blockchain Act, Bam underscored transparency in government and paved the way for innovations that benefit everyday Filipinos,” Noel emphasized.

“His focus on empowering the youth and improving governance makes him a leader of his generation,” Noel added.

Mayor Vico Sotto, for his part, proved that accountability is a powerful tool for change by exposing the massive corruption linked to controversial contractors Sarah and Curlee Discaya, sparking investigations into what has become one of the Philippines’ biggest corruption scandals.

“His (Vico’s) bold move didn’t just highlight his commitment to clean governance— it showed citizens that transparency can lead to real justice. Through his actions, Vico has become a symbol of hope for those fighting against graft and corruption,” Noel said.

Noel stressed that the contributions of Mayor Vico and Sen. Bam go beyond politics, as they inspire a nation to demand accountability, embrace transparency, and believe in the power of progressive change.

“For their relentless efforts in shaping a better Philippines, they are truly the most inspiring leaders of 2025,” Noel ended.
