The Iloilo Terminal Public Market is drawing attention after being selected as one of the main filming locations for the upcoming feature film ‘Kusinerang Bulag (The Blind Cook).’
The project stars veteran actress Jean Garcia alongside Kapuso actress Arra San Agustin, with production taking place in various parts of Iloilo City. The public market serves as a key setting that supports the film’s narrative.
Directed by Hugo “Boboy” Yonzon III, the story revolves around three sisters who confront tragedy and hardship as they work to rebuild their family’s restaurant. Their journey reflects themes of resilience, unity, and preserving their legacy.
Photos from the shoot were also shared by Raisa Treñas on her Facebook page, where she expressed her appreciation to the production team for choosing the Iloilo Terminal Public Market as one of the film’s primary locations.
“An upcoming full-length movie is currently being shot sa Iloilo Terminal Public Market, kag daw sa ano bala nga mapilian ang aton merkado as one of the main locations,” (An upcoming full length movie is currently being shot sa Iloilo Terminal Public Market and how does it feel that our market has been chosen as one of the main locations) she added.
She also praised Ilonggos for their strong sense of community, noting that their love and care continue to bring pride to Iloilo City.
“Through its story and visuals, the film highlights the rich natural beauty, vibrant culture, and diverse gastronomic heritage of the city,” the Iloilo Terminal Public Market Facebook page stated.
“Salamat gid for choosing Iloilo Terminal Public Market as part of your filming location!” it added.
The film also stars Victor Neri, Samantha Samarita, Madeleine Nicolas, and Jennica Garcia. It is the second film project by Bente Productions, which was behind the 2025 movie “I Remember You.”
The Iloilo City Government entered into a 25-year lease agreement with SM Prime, which invested around P1.5 billion and P2.5 billion to modernize the Iloilo Central Market and the Iloilo Terminal Market, transforming them into clean, safe, and efficient commercial hubs.
The redeveloped markets now house around 2,000 stalls, providing improved facilities for vendors and a more comfortable and organized shopping experience for consumers.
The Iloilo Central Public Market operates from 4:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., while the Terminal Public Market is open from 1:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
The market redevelopment aligns with the local government’s “My Heart Beats in Iloilo City” campaign, which aims to showcase the city’s unique heritage and culture while fostering a strong emotional connection between residents and their city.
