GMA Pictures, Mentorque launch Gen Z horror film ‘Huwag Kang Titingin’ in theaters April 15

A new Filipino horror film is set to hit cinemas this summer as GMA Pictures teams up with Mentorque Productions for “Huwag Kang Titingin,” a chilling project that blends today’s internet culture with elements of traditional folklore.

The upcoming film comes from the producers behind successful titles such as KMJS’ Gabi ng Lagim The Movie and Mallari. It is scheduled to open in cinemas nationwide on April 15, offering a Gen Z-driven horror story that combines jump scares, suspense, and emotional moments.

Set against the backdrop of today’s digital age, “Huwag Kang Titingin” centers on the dangers of online trends and viral challenges. The story examines how curiosity, when pushed too far, can lead to terrifying consequences.

An old ritual meant to communicate with the dead resurfaces online and becomes a viral video challenge. But those who attempt it unknowingly awaken something far more sinister—an entity that feeds on the souls of the living.

The story unfolds in San Antonio, a remote town filled with eerie traditions, candlelit rituals, and an old rest house surrounded by shadows and buried memories—where every mirror, flickering light, and dark corner may become a doorway for something waiting to be seen.

Leading the film is Sofia Pablo as Selene, the quiet and responsible sister burdened by guilt and the need to protect her younger brother. As the terrifying events unfold, Selene is forced to confront the truths she has long kept hidden and face the cost of silence.

Allen Ansay co-stars as Badong, the reserved kasambahay who keeps to himself but carries unsettling knowledge he refuses to reveal.

Joining the film’s young ensemble are Marco Masa as Brian, Charlie Fleming as Kira, Michael Sager as Benj, Kira Balinger as Liza, Josh Ford as Onat, Sean Lucas as A-jay, Anthony Constantino as Migz, with the special participation of Shuvee Etrata as Diane.

Completing the cast are Lui Manansala, Sherilyn Reyes, Alchris Galura, Michael Flores, Bernadette Allyson, David Domanais, and Christian Kimp Atip.

At the center of the terror is the “Umaaaligid,” a malevolent entity born from ritual, pain, and unfinished vengeance. It does not kill quickly—it stalks its victims, creeping into dreams and dragging them slowly into its nightmare.

Helming the film is director Frasco Mortiz alongside creative producer and screenwriter Ays De Guzman, the team behind another box office teen horror movie Pagpag: Siyam na Buhay.

With its mix of supernatural terror, viral culture, and emotional storytelling, “Huwag Kang Titingin” aims to deliver a fresh Filipino horror experience that feels both frighteningly modern and ancestrally familiar.

Produced by GMA Pictures and Mentorque Productions, Huwag Kang Titingin opens in theaters beginning April 15.
