After being a big hit in its homeland and other countries such as Cambodia, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Hong Kong, Thailand’s biggest international movie hit Bad Genius arrives this October 18, 2017 in Philippine cinemas.

The movie is an exciting, fun thriller based on real-life news of school cheating, and features themes of class inequality, and relatable teen social issues.

Directed by Nattawut Poonpiriya, Bad Genius stars the phenomenal Chutimon Chuengcharoensukying in her acting debut as Lynn, a straight-A student who devises an exams-cheating scheme which eventually rises to international levels.

Bad Genius has received critical and commercial success during their screenings at different film festivals around the globe.

On the festival circuit, Bad Genius was screened as the opening feature of the 16th New York Asian Film Festival last 30 June 2017. It was the first Southeast Asian film to be chosen to open the event. The film was also screened at the Fantasia International Film Festival in Canada and the New Zealand International Film Festival to a full house. Due to its impressive attendance, the movie received encore screenings in both festivals. It has been selected for the Fukuoka, Vancouver, BFI London and Fantastic Fest film festivals.

Hollywood Reporter heaped praise for the movie saying, “Bad Genius scores high marks as a ceaselessly entertaining thriller,” while Variety noted, “the film is executed with that studio’s trademark technical slickness and hip style, but director also offers subtle yet stinging insight into Thailand’s class inequalities and corrupt school system.”

Bad Genius is distributed in the Philippines by Silverline Multimedia.
