WATCH: New anime film ‘A Whisker Away’ to stream on Netflix

Netflix announces the Japanese animation film A Whisker Away to launch globally on June 18, 2020.

From Sailor Moon director Junichi Satoh and Anohana writer Mari Okada, here comes A Whisker Away, an upcoming anime film about love, magic, and cats premiering this June 18, only on Netflix.

In A Whisker Away, Miyo Sasaki, nicknamed “Muge” meaning “infinitely mysterious,” has a bright personality and is full of energy at school and at home. She is also secretly in love with her classmate Kento Hinode. Miyo tries repeatedly to get Kento’s attention, but he takes no notice of her. She realizes that the only way to get close to him is to transform into a cat, but at some point, the boundary between herself and the cat becomes ambiguous, and she is forced to give up her life as a human.

A Whisker Away features the voices of Mirai Shida (the main cast of Ghibli’s “The Secret World of Arrietty”, cast of Ghibli’s “The Wind Rises”), Natsuki Hanae (main cast of “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” and “Tokyo Ghoul”), and Koichi Yamadera (main cast of “Ghost in the Shell).

It is under the helm of directors Junichi Satoh (“Sailor Moon”) and Tomotaka Shibayama, and written by Mari Okada (“Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day”, “The Anthem of the Heart”) under Twin Engine Animation production: Studio Colorido.
