The voice cast of the much-anticipated Netflix Original Anime series Trese is finally revealed by the online streaming giant. Breathing life to the fierce character of Alexandra Trese are Filipino actress Liza Soberano for the Filipino dub and Filipino-Canadian actress Shay Mitchell for the English version.

Liza Soberano is best known for her films My Ex and Whys and Alone/Together (both of which are available on Netflix) among other titles. On the other hand, Shay Mitchell previously starred in Pretty Little Liars and the ongoing series YOU.

The anime series adaptation of the Philippine graphic novel created by Budjette Tan and KaJO Baldisimo is coming this 2021.

Liza has shared her excitement for the project: “It’s an honor to be the voice of an iconic character such as Alexandra Trese. I’m a huge fan of Budjette and KaJO’s award-winning Trese comics. Maraming salamat! Excited na ako!”

Shay has the same level of enthusiasm for Trese: “I’m so excited to be a part of a unique and amazing project like Trese, and to voice a character as brilliant as Alexandra Trese. Philippine folklore is rich and fascinating, and I am thrilled to be a part of the team bringing this story to life.”

About Trese

Set in a Manila where the mythical creatures of Philippine folklore live in hiding amongst humans, Alexandra Trese finds herself going head to head with a criminal underworld comprised of malevolent supernatural beings. 

Trese is executive produced by Jay Oliva (Wonder Woman, The Legend of Korra). It is produced by Shanty Harmayn and Tanya Yuson at BASE Entertainment, a studio based in Jakarta and Singapore.
