Have you watched the music video of “Liwanag sa Dilim”? Other than being the latest project that celebrates Vice President Leni Robredo, it’s one that brings hope for the country and for the Filipino people.

Launched by film workers, musicians, and different volunteer groups supporting her presidential run, the music video was performed by Yeng Constantino and Rivermaya, featuring big stars that include Angel Locsin and Piolo Pascual.

Thos who appeared in the video include Elmer Cordero, one of the six public utility drivers who were jailed for protesting the transport stoppage during the lockdown; Sherwin Descalso Abdon, the motorcycle rider who gave VP Leni a ride to the venue of the Cavite grand rally in Tanza; and VP Leni’s daughter, Aika Robredo.

The music video was directed by award-winning film director Irene Villamor (who helmed the blockbuster hits Ulan, Sid & Aya: Not A Love Story, and Camp Sawi). The famous American rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars has been one of their inspirations in making the music video.

“Yes, for those who said Thirty Seconds to Mars vibe siya, yes isa nga iyon sa mga naging inspiration for this music video,” Irene said.

Aside from Film Workers for Leni, other groups also participated in the making of the music video, including Bikers for Leni, LGBTQIA+ for Leni, K-Pop Stans 4 Leni, PWD for Leni, Youth for Leni, Seniors for Leni, TODA for Leni, Food Service Crew for Leni and Chefs for Leni.

Muslim Community for Leni, Tourism Workers for Leni, Teachers for Leni, Momshies for Leni, Skaters for Leni, Doctors for Leni, Dancers & Theater Artists for Leni,’ Construction Workers for Leni. Cheerleaders for Leni, Jeepney Drivers for Leni, Indigenous Peoples for Leni, and Chinese-Filipino Community for Leni are also in the video.

Irene thanked all the volunteers who shared their hopes and dreams for a better Philippines and helped to make the music video possible.

The hashtag #LeniLiwanagSaDilim has been trending since the weekend, after volunteers posted teasers of the music video. The teaser also garnered thousands of views since it was shared.

“Wow! Thousands of views na! So happy at maraming na excite sa pa teaser namin kagabi!” cheered Irene.

“Nakatutuwa dahil ang hangarin naman talaga natin ay isama ang lahat sa biyahe tungo sa mas magandang bukas,” she emphasized.
