Box-office queen Kathryn Bernardo is set to be part of a milestone event for ABS-CBN Films. The 27-year-old actress is set to star in two new films for Star Cinema’s 30th anniversary celebration this year.
ABS-CBN Film Productions Inc. Head Kriz Gazmen made the announcement today, March 27.
She will star alongside 2023 Golden Globe Best Supporting Actress Dolly De Leon in the dark comedy ‘A Very Good Girl’ under Star Cinema. Its key art shows a hand gesturing the middle finger with the tagline “Payback’s a B*tch.” This is to be directed by Petersen Vargas, who previously helmed ‘An Inconvenient Love’ with the phenomenal #DonBelle love team of Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano. The script is written by Marionne Dominique Mancol (‘He’s Into Her’). Carmi Raymundo is this title’s creative manager, while Daniel Saniana is the creative supervisor.

The second film she will headline is the historical Japanese era-set drama film ‘Elena 1944,’ under Black Sheep. This is to be directed by Olivia M. Lamasan. Written by Patrick John R. Valencia and Enrico Santos, its screenplay is based on Valencia’s Palanca award-winner “The Revenge of the Comfort Woman.” The creative manager for this project is Vanessa Valdez. ‘Elena 1944’ is set for release in 2024.

Stay tuned for more details about the aforementioned films as other cast members will be revealed soon.
