Puregold CinePanalo partners with MOWELFUND: Empowering Filipino filmmakers together

Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival is thrilled to join forces with the Movie Workers Welfare Foundation, Inc. (MOWELFUND) to support its Kwentong Panalo movies.

The collaboration between Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival and MOWELFUND is a significant step towards uplifting the Philippine film industry, especially for emerging filmmakers, and showcasing narratives that celebrate Filipino life and culture.

Established in 1974, MOWELFUND is a non-stock, non-profit foundation dedicated to social welfare, education, and industry development. The foundation has a strong commitment to supporting professionals in the Philippine movie landscape.

Boots Anson Roa-Rodrigo, Chairman of MOWELFUND, expresses gratitude to Puregold for CinePanalo, emphasizing how the initiative assists filmmakers in featuring films that explore wholesome family themes, capturing the essence of everyday Filipino life.

This collaboration is a “win-win” situation for both MOWELFUND and Puregold, as it fosters family values through film and provides logistical support to young filmmakers. Aspiring film students and enthusiasts also benefit from CinePanalo, which enables them to bring their dream projects to life through the magic of film.

The Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival has recently revealed its grant recipients, including six directors for full-length films and 25 student filmmakers for short films. These selections, embodying the theme “Mga Kwentong Panalo ng Buhay,” will be showcased at the Gateway Cineplex 18, Araneta City, from March 15 to 17, weaving stories of kinship, perseverance, and the Filipino spirit.

In a show of gratitude, MOWELFUND acknowledges Puregold’s support for their 50th-anniversary medical and dental mission, where grocery gift bags will be distributed to deserving members of the film community.

As the Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival approaches its peak, Ivy Hayagan-Piedad, Puregold senior marketing manager, expresses heartfelt appreciation to MOWELFUND and all partners for their integral role in not only showcasing inspiring Filipino narratives but also in strengthening the collective contribution to the thriving Philippine movie industry.
