(“We are very excited about their performances and the new songs they will create. We hope with your support, and the support of their families and loyal fans, that we can welcome them warmly and support them in their upcoming songs. We’ve listened to their songs. Very creative. And I am looking forward to many more people hearing them, with the help of God, and of course, with our collective efforts.”)

Debut single ‘Bituin’

Letters From June’s debut single, “Bituin,” is a heartfelt exploration of love and longing. The song, originally penned by Renzo as a deeply personal ode, has evolved through the collaborative efforts of the band into a powerful piece that resonates with anyone who has experienced unrequited love. The lyrics poignantly question one’s worth in a relationship, capturing the raw emotional turbulence with a compelling musical arrangement.

Before their media conference, the band performed “Bituin” at their signing event, alongside covers of songs by Cup of Joe and Kitchie Nadal.

Formation of the band

The genesis of Letters From June traces back to November 2022, when the members met through a school theater group.

Renzo recalled, “We started [in] theater sa school. We were all bunch of students na malaki ang pagmamahal sa performing arts. I think that was a common ground para mabuo yung band.”

(“We started in the school theater. We were all a bunch of students with a great love for the performing arts. I think that was the common ground that brought the band together.”)

Bonding over their shared passion for music, they began creating together in the intimate setting of a dorm room. Their songwriting process is deeply personal, often drawing from their own life experiences. Despite their diverse personalities and varying musical tastes, the members of Letters From June have forged a unique and harmonious bond, valuing each contribution that shapes their collective sound.

What’s with the band name?

The story behind their evocative name was revealed by Michelle, who said, “Sean thought of it actually… And we found meaning behind it… The format of our songs [has] lyrics as if [they were] written for someone or by someone. Especially with ‘Bituin,’ it is evident that it’s a love song but it’s also a bit heart-wrenching. ‘From June’ because June is a month and a season of warmth, growth, and weddings.”

Renz added, “And apparently, rainy season as well.”

The intriguing name is likely to pique curiosity and catch people’s attention.
