Ever since ‘The Rain in España’ premiered in 2023, featuring the fresh pairing of Marco Gallo and Heaven Peralejo (MarVen), fans and readers of Gwy Saludes’ University Series, as well as the Viva One adaptation, have eagerly anticipated the next stars to take the spotlight in the series.
Following this success, Jerome Ponce and Krissha Viaje took the lead in ‘Safe Skies, Archer,’ the second book adaptation. This pairing, affectionately known as the KrisshRome love team, quickly gained popularity, leading to their first joint endorsement and various projects together.
Now, Viva is set to continue this exciting trend. The new love team of Gab Lagman and Hyacinth Callado (HyGab) promises to bring even more ‘kilig’ (romantic excitement) to audiences in ‘Chasing in the Wild,’ premiering on August 16 on Viva One.
The entire cast was joined by their director Thop Nazareno (‘Edward,’ ‘Niña, Niño’) and book writer Gwy Saludes during the recent media conference of ‘Chasing in the Wild.’

Marco and Heaven on passing the torch
When asked about feeling any pressure on keeping the momentum on the third installment, Marco Gallo, who plays the role of Kalix, said, “To be honest, I guess I’m not putting…notice or care to it. It’s more of it feels like alam naman naming lahat na everyone’s gonna have the book.
(“To be honest, I guess I’m not putting much notice or care into it. It feels like we all know everyone’s going to get the book.)
“I’m actually happy na nauna kami kasi parang yung lahat ng bigat—parang exam lang sa school: kami ang nauna, tapos na. The pressure went on to Krissha and Jerome, and then now it’s on to Gab and Hyacinth.
(“I’m actually happy that we went first because it felt like carrying all the weight—it’s like an exam in school: we went first, and now it’s done. The pressure went on to Krissha and Jerome, and now it’s on to Gab and Hyacinth.)
“Honestly, Heaven and I are just enjoying the whole thing now. It’s less stressful because we have less lines to take care of on set, and we have our own thing going. Like, this feels like a recap…
“Nakakatuwa lang na makitang dumadagdag yung cast, na dumadagdag yung fans sa iba’t ibang love team. Parang naggu-grow lahat… Super chill lang.”
(“It’s just fun to see the cast growing and the fans increasing for the different love teams. It feels like everything is growing… It’s super chill.”)
As for Heaven: “Kasi parang ito [ay] naging pamilya na e, alam n’yo yon. So everytime na nagkikita kami, usually may labas after or get-together after. Kung hindi man after the work, minsan kung sino lang yung libre.
(“It feels like we’ve become a family, you know? So every time we see each other, we usually go out or have a get-together afterwards. If not after work, then sometimes it’s whoever is free.)
“So, parang kami naman, ako as being like sa first book, parang pag may mga question [sina] Hya, or noon [sina] KrisshRome, parang nandiyan kami to give advice. So, para kaming naging mother-and-father. Like, sinasabi namin, ‘Hindi, pag sa love team, like partners yan. Kayong dalawa ang dapat laging okay kumbaga kasi kailangan n’yo ang isa’t isa. Laging maging magkaibígan [friends] or magkáibigan [more than friends].
(“For us, especially me being part of the first book, when Hya and Gab or Krissha and Jerome had questions, we were there to give advice. We felt like we became the mother-and-father figures. We would say, ‘In a love team, you’re like partners. You both need to always be okay because you need each other. Always be friends or more than friends.’)
“So, ayon, I’m just happy… Regarding kung sa mainit man o hindi…lagi akong nagugulat… Two years has passed, and we’re [still] known as Kalix and Luna, and nakakataba ng puso all the time. Minsan pag naririnig ko yon, mas lalo akong nai-in love kay Marco.
(“So, I’m just happy… Regarding whether it’s still hot or not, I’m always surprised. Two years have passed, and we’re still known as Kalix and Luna, and it always warms my heart. Sometimes when I hear it, I fall even more in love with Marco.”)

Gab and Hyacinth on their pairing
Gab Lagman had this to say on their love team as they play Sevi and Elyse, respectively.
“Honestly, we’re just all grateful na, gaya nga ng sabi ni Heaven na we’re like a family. Yeah, we have a lot of questions. Siyempre, bago kaming love team, and I always ask them for advice, and even kina KrisshRome. And I’m happy na they’re happy for us. They’re so supportive… Hindi lang sila pero lahat ng cast.
“Honestly, we’re just all grateful because, like Heaven said, we’re like a family. We have a lot of questions, of course, being a new love team, and I always ask them for advice, even from KrisshRome. I’m happy that they’re happy for us. They’re so supportive—not just them, but the whole cast.
“Siyempre, each book, like iba’t ibang istorya kami. And next si Aubrey [Caraan] na, di ba? It’s a surreal moment na kami na yung magli-lead sa Season 3, and we’re very grateful kay God, sa Viva, kay Gwy, na they trusted us to lead this book. And, hopefully magustuhan ng mga fan ang gagawin namin.”

Hyacinth, on the other hand, seconded her co-stars. “Same din. Gab said everything. I don’t really put notice to anything like that. All I can say is that we’re very supportive of each other. We are like a family, and that’s all that we think about and that’s all that we focus on.”
What to watch out for in this third installment
In this installment, opposites attract as Sevi Camero, a simple, fun-loving engineering student and basketball team captain, meets Elyse Ledezma, a rich, spoiled management student and cheerleader from a rival school.
From playful banter to friendly breakfast dates and a five-year relationship filled with love, viewers will follow the highs and lows of Elyse and Sevi’s romance. As they grow together, the question remains: can their young love endure the challenges of real life?
Supporting cast members include Dominic Ochoa and Angelu de Leon portraying Elyse’s parents, Alfred and Adriana Erin Ledezma. Jairus Aquino plays Shan, Elyse’s half-brother, while Wilbert Ross takes on the role of Arkin, Sevi’s best friend. Anjo Yllana, PJ Abellana, Yumi Garcia, and Keann Johnson are among the new characters adding color to Elyse and Sevi’s lives. The whole Univerkada is also set to return to support Elyse and Sevi’s relationship.
