The Real to Reel Competition, a creative initiative by Pioneer Insurance, recently concluded with a cinema screening and awards ceremony that celebrated the ingenuity and vision of its young participants. This platform gave Gen Z filmmakers an opportunity to showcase their artistic talents while addressing critical social issues through their unique perspectives.
Prominent themes such as politics and global warming took center stage at the event, with participants creatively exploring these pressing concerns. The winning film, Ang Panawagan ni Googly, stood out by addressing climate change through the perspective of “Googly,” a used plastic container, offering a fresh take on environmental issues.
Other entries delved into relevant topics like politics—timely as the election season approaches—and mental health, among various other societal challenges.
With a panel of esteemed judges from the film industry, including Pioneer Insurance Group President Lorenzo Chan, the event highlighted the exceptional potential of the younger generation in filmmaking. It also showcased how Gen Z channels their creativity and passion to voice their stand on significant social issues.
