After years away from the concert scene, Arnell Ignacio is making a highly anticipated comeback with “Timeless… Music & Laughter”, a post-Valentine celebration happening on February 15 at the Century Park Hotel Grand Ballroom in Manila. Despite his demanding responsibilities as OWWA Administrator, Ignacio is eager to return to the spotlight, proving that his passion for music and entertainment remains strong.
During a recent press confenrece, Ignacio admitted that he misses the world of show business while deeply immersed in public service.
Having built a long and successful career as a game show host, comedian, and actor before shifting to government service, there is this thrill of performing — the instant connection with the audience, and the energy of the stage are aspects he longs for.
“Na-miss ko ‘yung instant na appreciation nila sa ginagawa mo at ‘ung energy,” he shared. (I miss the audience’s instant appreciation for what you do and that energy.)
He described how the adrenaline kicks in the moment he steps on stage.
“Kapag tumuntong ka na sa stage, may parang gagapang sa ’yo sa adrenaline na will just tell you what to say or how to say it. Tapos nakikita mo ‘ung reaksyon ng mga tao. ‘an ang mga nakaka-miss.”
(Once you step on stage, there’s this surge of adrenaline that tells you what to say and how to say it. Then you see the audience’s reactions—that’s what I miss.)
Beyond performing, Ignacio also reminisced about the bonds he built in the showbiz industry.
Speaking to CinemaBravo, he shared how the camaraderie within the industry made the job even more fulfilling. “Yung bonding kasi sa showbiz, yon ang nagpapasarap sa trabaho lalo. Nagbibigay sila ng lakas ng loob, and somehow you look forward to every project that you do.”
(The camaraderie in showbiz is what makes the job even more enjoyable. It gives you confidence, and somehow, you always look forward to every project you do.)
He emphasized how the unique energy required for live performances is something he will always treasure. “It requires a very unique amount of energy,” he added.
“Kailangang ma-deliver mo yan. Nakakatuwa lang talaga na binigyan tayo ng talent ng Diyos.”
(It requires a very unique amount of energy. You have to deliver. It’s truly amazing that God has blessed us with this talent.)
At the same press conference, Ignacio was joined by producer-actress Liz Alindogan and Deputy Administrator of OWWA, Atty. Mary Melanie Quiño, who both expressed their support for his return to the concert scene.
Aside from Ignacio’s much-awaited comeback, the concert will also feature the New Minstrels 5th Generation, a celebrated showband that dominated the music scene from the ‘70s to the ‘90s with their smooth harmonies and timeless hits. Joining them are crooner Chad Borja, singer Alynna, and Attorney Rene Puno, an original member of The New Minstrels.
Other featured performers include The K Gang, Fumi, Bernie Batin, Leo Bruno, Janna Trias, and Christi.
The event will also mark the launch of The K Gang, a fresh group of entertainers and content creators set to make their debut in a nationwide movie series on a streaming platform.
Tickets for the event are priced at P10,000 for gold, P7,500 for silver, and P5,000 for bronze, inclusive of a full-course dinner. Table packages are also available.
