‘Maalikaya’ follows the story of Kara (Aliya Raymundo), a 19-year-old woman forced into marriage by her business-driven family. But on her honeymoon, an accident nearly kills her husband—an incident that led to her incarceration in a women’s penal colony.
Inside, Kara is welcomed by a group of inmates who are close to her age. Among them is Lila (Jenn Rosa), a fellow prisoner who becomes her confidante, and eventually, her lover. As Kara experiences affection and freedom for the first time, she slowly breaks away from the life of control she once knew.

As the family’s sole provider, Barbie shoulders the weight of survival—unaware that her sister has become the object of the twisted desire of the very man they live with.
