Political analyst Ronald Llamas questioned the credibility of groups and individuals backing the Iglesia Ni Cristo’s (INC) three-day rally against corruption, saying their track record contradicts the very message of the protest.
In a Facebook post, Llamas pointed out that those who have supported plunderers and perpetrators of extrajudicial killings (EJK) cannot sincerely demand accountability from the government.
“Simple lang: Ang mga endorsers at supporters ng mga mandarambong at EJKillers ay walang integridad mag-rally laban sa korapsyon, kahit isang linggo pa iyan,” Llamas said.
(It is simple: Endorsers and supporters of plunderers and EJK perpetrators have no integrity to rally against corruption, even if it lasts a week.)
Llamas made the remark in reference to the INC-organized rally for transparency and accountability scheduled from November 16 to 18 at Rizal Park.
He also quoted Philippine national hero Jose Rizal, stressing that “The glory of saving a country is not for those who have contributed to its ruin.”
According to the INC, the peaceful gathering aims to highlight the importance of transparency, accountability, and good governance.
