Senator Bam Aquino, a certified movie buff, showcased his love for the silver screen during his latest appearance on “Good Times with Mo,” where he listed his favorite film trilogies of all time.
When asked to name the best trilogy of his lifetime, Sen. Bam mentioned his personal list of iconic franchises, including Back to the Future and Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy.
Sen. Bam also mentioned The Lord of the Rings, the original Star Wars trilogy, The Godfather, and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man films.
“Back to the Future. Nolan Batman Dark Knight. Lord of the Rings. Star Wars, the first one. Star Wars the prequel. Godfather is also a trilogy,” Sen. Bam said.
“Just Tobey Maguire. Also a trilogy. Ito na iyong mga trilogies na napagdaanan natin,” he added.
When the conversation turned to the Indiana Jones franchise, Sen. Bam proposed that the series be judged solely on its first three installments.
“Pwede ko bang tanggalin yung, fourth and fifth movie ng Indiana Jones and we end with Last Crusade?” Sen. Bam asked, referring to the later sequels, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, which were released in 2008 and 2023, respectively.
“We can call it one of the top trilogies ever also,” he added.
Sen. Bam also came to the defense of one of the franchise’s more divisive entries, saying he believes Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom deserves more appreciation.
“I will, I will die on the hill of Temple of Doom actually being okay. Like, people don’t like Temple of Doom. I really like Temple of Doom. Last Crusade pa rin kasi may Sean Connery involved, di ba?” he said.
Sen. Bam is pushing for stronger government support for the country’s creative industry, citing its huge potential to generate more jobs and stimulate economic growth.
According to Sen. Bam, the Philippine creative sector remains one of the country’s greatest strengths and deserves sustained support through adequate funding and a long-term development plan from the government.
He said stronger support for Filipino creatives, artists, content creators, filmmakers, musicians, and designers would not only open up more livelihood and employment opportunities, but also showcase Filipino talent on the global stage.
