Sky Quizon, Migs Almendras star in new BL vertical series leading KayaFlix’s originals

Sky Quizon and Migs Almendras are among the artists ushering in a new format for Filipino storytelling as they headline Sa Dulo’t Dulo, Isinulat Para Magwakas, a BL microdrama from KayaFlix, the new Filipino streaming platform dedicated to vertical, mobile-first storytelling.

The Star Magic and Sparkle GMA Artist Center talents were introduced as part of KayaFlix’s launch lineup, giving audiences a first look at the kinds of stories and artists that will be featured on the platform.

For Sky, the project is also an opportunity to tell stories about queer characters and the LGBTQIA+ community.

“Sa akin po siguro, it would always be a good opportunity to always tell stories of queer individuals, mga miyembro ng LGBTQIA+ community,” Sky said during KayaFlix’s August 12 launch and mediacon at Sine POP in Cubao. (For me, it would always be a good opportunity to tell stories of queer individuals, members of the LGBTQIA+ community.)

“But the important thing is we’re here as actors to tell stories,” he added.

The series is one of KayaFlix’s original vertical productions, created specifically for smartphone viewing. Sky also spoke about the challenge of mounting the project in just one day, particularly with scenes moving between different periods in the characters’ lives.

“It’s very challenging to mount a story nang isang araw… (in one day…) kidding aside, it’s really hard to mount, as in akala ko imposible na ma-mount ang isang vertical drama in a day,” Sky added. (I thought it would be impossible to mount a vertical drama in a day.)

Beyond the production challenge, however, Sky sees Sa Dulo’t Dulo as a story with an emotional core that goes beyond romance.

“More than that, I think this is a story of laying out that love isn’t really enough. It is a story of trying to find yourself in the years that have passed.”

A new home for Filipino storytelling

KayaFlix is a proudly Filipino streaming platform and mobile application built around one simple belief:

“Our stories deserve a home.”

Beyond Sa Dulo’t Dulo, Isinulat Para Magwakas, KayaFlix’s growing library includes Ang Pag-Uwi, Double Booking, Habang Buhay, Habambuhay, Ang Huling Gabi Kasama si Aya, The Parents We Never Expected, Social Media Detox, and Mga Halimaw.

Many more original titles and stories from Filipino creatives are in the pipeline.

The platform is reimagining the teleserye experience for today’s mobile-first generation through premium vertical-format drama series, while creating new opportunities for emerging Filipino writers, directors, actors, and filmmakers.

Its approach is summed up in the phrase “Vertical Drama. Filipino Soul.”

Rather than simply adapting existing productions to a vertical frame, KayaFlix creates stories intentionally designed for vertical screens from the very beginning. Its mobile-first viewing experience combines the emotional depth of traditional teleseryes with the accessibility and pace of modern digital entertainment.
The format is designed to meet audiences where they already are—whether waiting for a ride, commuting to work, taking a lunch break, or relaxing at home.

But the launch is not simply about introducing another way to watch.

It is also about giving Filipino storytellers another place to be seen.

A platform for the next generation

KayaFlix’s story began with director Maki Javier, its Creative and Managing Director, who was inspired to build the platform after serving as a judge at a student film festival at Bulacan State University.

Javier was deeply impressed by the creativity, craftsmanship, and storytelling of the participating student filmmakers. Yet as the festival came to a close, one question stayed with him: “Where can audiences continue to watch these stories after the festival?”

That question revealed what Javier saw as a gap in the industry. Many exceptional student films are seen only by limited audiences before fading from view after a festival or thesis defense.

KayaFlix was envisioned as more than a streaming platform. It would become a home where deserving Filipino stories could continue to be seen, celebrated, and discovered long after the festival curtains had closed.

“KayaFlix began with a question that stayed with me after judging a student film festival: Where do these incredible stories go after the festival ends? I realized they deserved more than a single screening. They deserved a home. KayaFlix was built to become that home.”

Raised in the province, Javier has long believed that exceptional storytelling exists far beyond major production studios and metropolitan centers. His career has included directing campaigns for globally recognized brands such as McDonald’s, Maserati, Ford, and other leading companies, but his passion has always been to create opportunities for Filipino creatives.

Through KayaFlix, he hopes aspiring filmmakers can showcase their work, connect with wider audiences, and demonstrate that world-class stories can emerge from every corner of the Philippines.

Pricing

KayaFlix aims to discover emerging storytellers from provinces and regional communities, expand the audience for independent Filipino productions, and bring proudly Filipino stories to viewers locally and globally.

KayaFlix officially became publicly available on August 15, with the platform offering access at ₱199, down from its original ₱249 price. Quarterly subscription is priced at ₱498 (originally ₱747). They also offer 5-episode package, priced at ₱79.
