Gab Pangilinan leads full cast of ‘Gabriela: The Musical’ with Myke Salomon, CJ Navato

Barefoot Theatre Collaborative has officially unveiled the complete cast and artistic team of its upcoming original production, ‘GABRIELA: The Musical,’ following the highly anticipated announcement of acclaimed actress Gab Pangilinan as the titular character.

The musical offers a reimagined take on the story of Gabriela Silang, exploring a narrative where revolution begins with love.

The cast

Pangilinan will headline the production as Gabriela Silang, joined by Myke Salomon, who will portray Diego Silang, and CJ Navato as Miguel Vicos.The world surrounding Gabriela takes shape through Kerr Allen as Sebastian, Mikaela Regis as Kunyap/Gimayad, Jasper Jimenez as Tagaben, and Delphine Buencamino as Dawak. Completing the principal lineup are Carlon Matobato as Frayle, Jon Abella as Alcalde, and Jules Dela Paz as Principalia.

Together breathing life into the dual worlds of Mga Kailian and Mga Itneg is a dynamic ensemble featuring Curp Adriano, Joshua Rico Santos, Vincent Sumo, Andre Manguba, Ace Polias, Khalil Tambio, Evan Asuela, Chesko Rodriguez, Ada Tayao, Teetin Villanueva, Mijon Anne Cortez, Denize Castillo, Ronah de la Peña, Lance Reblando, Pappel, and Joie Eborde.

Alongside their ensemble role, the following performers also serve as understudies and swings: Pappel (Gabriela Understudy), Khalil Tambio (Diego Understudy), Curp Adriano (Sebastian Understudy), Ronah de la Peña (Dawak Understudy), Lance Reblando (Kunyap Understudy), Chesko Rodriguez (Male Swing for Frayle, Alcalde, Principalia), Janji Gamboa (Male Ensemble Swing), and Joie Eborde (Female Ensemble Swing).

The artistic team

At the helm of GABRIELA: The Musical is the reuniting creative trio behind Bar Boys: The Musical, led by Pat Valera (Book & Lyrics), Myke Salomon (Composer & Musical Director), and Mikko Angeles (Director).

About Gabriela: The Musical

Even before the concept of “nation” and “Filipino” the people of our land already fought for dignity. Ilocos, 1762. In the cracks of the empire, Diego Silang ignites a revolt. For a brief moment, the North tastes freedom. Then Diego is assassinated.

History often recalls Gabriela Silang at that rupture: Diego’s widow driven by grief, a woman out for revenge. But this musical goes beyond that frame.

Told through myth, magic, and mystery, we meet Gabriela again–not as a footnote to a husband’s death but as a co-author of the revolution, there from the beginning, and later forced to hold it together as the uprising fractures.

We journey with Gabriela not only as an Ilocano, but also as a woman rediscovering her Itneg roots. Moving between ways of seeing—the bells and the gongs— Gabriela becomes the battleground where worlds collide, and the bridge that could unite us all.

Ultimately, this is a love story between people who believed that a different life was possible—and its heartbreak, when the fight forces us to ask:
