What began as a conversation about jewelry turned into a candid discussion about love, letting go, faith, and the possibility of finding a new relationship for Jennica Garcia.
The actress visited Maddox Jewelry to have a ring she had purchased checked after noticing that its color appeared to have changed. While waiting for the assessment, Jennica and Charo Cordial talked about natural diamonds, jewelry, and eventually, her former wedding ring.
When Charo asked what happened to the ring, Jennica answered directly:
“Wala na. Binenta ko agad.” (It’s gone. I sold it right away.)
Jennica explained that the ring no longer served a purpose because she would not be wearing it anymore. The conversation eventually became more personal as she opened up about the process of letting go and an important realization she had through her faith.
She recalled a time when she struggled to let go of someone in her life. Eventually, however, she realized that it is still possible to maintain respect for a person even when the love between them is no longer the same.
For Jennica, she became more afraid of losing God than losing someone she was having difficulty letting go of.
Jennica is open to love again
Following the end of her marriage and her years as a single mother, Jennica remains open to the possibility of entering a new relationship.
When asked directly if she feels ready to love again, the actress said:
“Feeling ko, oo naman. Basta pinili lang ni Lord.”
(I feel like, yes. As long as the person is chosen by the Lord.)
For Jennica, however, finding a partner is not simply about romance or having someone by her side.
As a mother, she also considers the possibility that her future partner could become a father figure to her children. Because of this, she wants to see qualities in a man that her children can look up to, including patience and the ability to avoid being judgmental or selfish.
Why Jennica is particular about her future partner
Her standards have led some of her friends to tell her that she is particularly picky when it comes to relationships.
When it comes to physical appearance, Jennica admitted that she does have a preference, revealing that she is often attracted to moreno men.
Still, she does not want to create a strict checklist for the person she will eventually date. She believes that when genuine love comes, many of the standards a person has set for themselves can change.
“Pag na-in love ka, wala na ’yan. (When you fall in love, those things no longer matter.) Love conquers all,” she said.
Jennica says situationships are not for her
Although she remains open to a new relationship, Jennica is clear about one type of setup she does not want: a situationship.
She explained that she does not typically maintain overly close friendships with men, particularly when there is a possibility of developing an emotional attachment without clear intentions.
Jennica shared an example involving a man who constantly messages her or offers to pick her up after work. For her, she would not simply get into the car of someone whose intentions toward her have not been made clear.
“Paano kung masanay ako na sinusundo mo ’ko, tapos hindi mo naman pala ako nililigawan?”
(What if I get used to you picking me up, and it turns out you’re not actually courting me?)
She also knows exactly what she calls this kind of unclear arrangement.
“I think that’s where situationships start. And it’s just not for me.”
Faith is Jennica’s non-negotiable
More than physical attraction or qualities such as being romantic and caring, Jennica considers faith to be one of the most important qualities she wants in a future partner.
If a man expresses interest in her but they do not share the same faith, she makes her position clear.
Even if the man says he is willing to attend church or make adjustments for her, Jennica said that is not what she is looking for.
Instead, she prays for someone who is already serving God before entering her life.
For Jennica, it is important that both people understand from the beginning that the relationship they hope to build should be a “sacred relationship.”
A NEW CHAPTER FOR JENNICA GARCIA?
Toward the end of their conversation, the result of Jennica’s ring assessment was revealed. The jewelry was confirmed to feature a natural diamond and 18-karat gold, addressing her initial concern about the change in its color.
Beyond the value of the jewelry, however, the conversation gave the rings a more personal significance.
Her former wedding ring has already been sold, but Jennica’s heart does not appear to be closed to love.
Should another ring eventually become part of her life, she is not rushing toward it. For now, Jennica is willing to wait for someone who aligns not only with her heart but also with her faith and the kind of life she hopes to build for her children.
And when that person will arrive, Jennica appears ready to leave the answer in God’s hands.
