LIST: Movies, K-dramas, loveteams on Vivamax this July 2021

Thanking its hundreds of thousands of subscribers since its launch in early 2021, Vivamax is offering watch-all-you-want experience at 29 pesos only for 3 days. Surprises continue to flood the local streaming platform with the launch of Vivamax Originals as well as top local films and series.

Gluta

First up is Gluta, another sure hit by maverick and sensational director Darryl Yap. Gluta is a film about skin color and not just the bigotry and prejudice against dark skin, but a celebration of individuality, ethnic pride and the truth that love and happiness knows no color. Gluta stars Ella Cruz, Marco Gallo, Rose Van Ginkel and Juliana Pariscova Segovia. Gluta airs on July 2. 

Silab

The next film Silab is a sexy film directed by the reputable Joel Lamangan. The love triangle launches Cloe Barretto in her first and very daring role. Completing the fiery cast are  Jason Abalos and Marco Gomez. Silab airs on July 9.

The Other Wife

Lovi Poe, Joem Bascon and rising star Rhen Escaño star in The Other Wife directed by Prime Cruz, a sexy thriller that deals with jealousy and its fatal effects. The unexpected twists and turns plus the sensual cinematography make this a must watch film on its July 16 premiere.

Nerisa

Another Vivamax Original is Nerisa, starring Cindy Miranda and Aljur Abrenica, AJ Raval and Sean de Guzman.  This sexy drama is the story of a woman who mysteriously appears in an island causing much disruption among the menfolk and envy from the village women.  Written by the multi-awarded Ricky Lee and directed by Lawrence Fajardo, Nerisa will take you on a journey about gender and the power of women. Nerisa will show on Vivamax on July 30. 

Mañanita

Other Local film offerings include the award winning Mañanita starring Bela Padilla and directed by Paul Soriano. It is about a retired assassin and her ultimate choice of whether to    seek vengeance or to forgive.

Pandanggo sa Hukay

Cinemalaya film festival entry Pandanggo sa Hukay starring Iza Calzado is about a woman’s journey through a series of unfortunate events. It is directed by Sheryl Rose Andes and an all female production team.

Edward

Another must see is the multi-awarded film Edward, also from Cinemalaya. It chronicles the coming of age of a young boy in a hospital where he is stuck taking care of his ailing father. Edward stars Louise Abuel and Ella Cruz who garnered several awards and nominations for her portrayal as the love interest of Edward.

Two local series can also be enjoyed on Vivamax. Encounter is based on the Korean drama starring Cristine Reyes and Diego Loyzaga. and Puto, the hilarious sequel to the classic movie of the same title, starring Herbert Bautista, McCoy de Leon and Beks Battalion.

For July, Vivamax also launched several high-interest Korean titles : Moonlit Winter, Taxi Driver, Diva, Metamorphosis and the Battle of Jangsari. Starring in these films are stellar artists like Kin Hee-ae, Lee Je Hon, Esom and Shin Min-a. These Korean movies and series have Tagalized options and are sure to satisfy your need for Korean drama and action. 

Two major Hollywood films join the Vivamax roster this month  Adrift is a movie about survival in the harshest sea storm.  The Lost City of Z is a biographical adventure drama about the search for a mysterious city in the Amazons. 

Rounding off a wonderful July are some of the best loveteams and movies produced by Star Cinema. Catch KathNiel in Barcelona: A Love Untold, LizQuen in My Ex and Whys, LizGerald in My Perfect You, JoshLia in Vince and Kath and James and One More Chance with Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd Cruz.
