Asia’s Romantic Balladeer Christian Bautista just renewed his exclusive TV contract with GMA on Thursday, June 24. He has been a Kapuso artist for eight years now and he is looking forward to around three more fruitful years.
His virtual signing was attended by Senior Vice President for Entertainment Group Lilybeth Rasonable and Christian’s manager Carlo Orosa. It was also witnessed by some GMA executives.
He will remain as a panelist in the award-winning and acclaimed original reality-based singing competition The Clash, which is slated to air its fourth season this September 2021. As he gears up for the newest season, CinemaBravo asked him during his bloggers conference what he thinks makes the show click.
“I think what keeps the audience motivated is merong mga segment ang The Clash na kakaiba na hindi mo makikita sa mga usual singing contests. Then again, palagi kong sinasabi sa mga presscon, ang pinakagusto ko talaga ay yung maghahanap sila ng ka-duet partner, hopefully maganda yung duet nila, pag nanalo sila [ay] magmu-move sila sa next round. Kapag natalo sila, maglalaban sila. I think, that’s just genius!”
As a panelist who regularly critiques the performances of the contestants, he is usually referred to as a straightfoward and somehow strict judge (as opposed to his fellow panelists Ai-Ai De Las Alas, Lani Misalucha, and Pops Fernandez who served as a guest judge in Season 3).
“Being a straightforward judge, I do my best to be straightforward yet constructive at hindi nangpu-put down,” he explained. “Pero I also need to be that kind of judge para mas mabilis sana silang matuto. I’m also always saying na—kasi minsan ang bashing sa ‘kin e ‘Ikaw rin naman nagkakamali e!’, ‘Ikaw rin naman natalo!’, ‘Ikaw rin naman. Ba’t ganyan ka?!’. So ang sinasabi ko lang, yes, I am not perfect… Yes, I did all those mistakes before… Pero as a judge, on that seat, on that timeslot, I have to do my job: to be a good judge and to really tell the contestants what they need to hear so that they will become better.”
Aside from The Clash, Christian also stays as a main cast member of the musical-comedy variety show All-Out Sundays. He is also expected to have more acting projects soon.
Watch out for more projects of Christian Bautista on TV via GMA Network, as well as in regional and world tours for GMA Pinoy TV.
