She acknowledged pageant mentor Josh Yugen, whom she considers a longtime supporter, for encouraging her to pursue the Miss Universe journey more seriously over the past two years.
Matiauda also pointed out why the Philippines was a natural choice for her preparation. She recognized the country’s strong standing in global pageantry and expressed admiration for Filipina queens like Catriona Gray and Pia Wurtzbach, citing them as inspirations for her own journey.
